Got a new job and it has to be the most mundane thing I've ever experienced. Don't speak to the general public so huge plus, I'll do this for awhile and see how I get on.

What is it doing if you don’t mind me asking?

It's basically data entry. I look through lists, pick out information then input it.

Ahh cool, tbf it’s not far off what I do in Accounting not dealing with the public is a big plus though for sure. Hopefully you’ll end up liking it more as you get on.

Thanks, I hope so too. I don't have as much of the dread in starting work anymore. And that to me is worth a lot. I can't remember the last time I was in a job that was like that.

I "joined" a new company yesterday. I didn't change jobs, but got shoved over to a new employer.

Which is fine, my job hasn't changed at all and I don't really care who my employer is as long as I get paid.

But I just had to submit background checks and right to work stuff as my old company didn't port that over. strawberry float me what a faff. I don't have a passport at the moment and so spent an hour tearing the house apart trying to find my birth certificate and a document with my national insurance number on.

It was a huge pain in the arse for me, I can't even imagine what it's like for foreign born people. strawberry float the racist bastard government.

I had to do background/reference checks for new employees.

It sucked. No I mean that was the whole company, that's literally all they did. All day. Forever.

I was once checking if some rando guy in their 50s got their couple of O-levels from an obscure school in a remote location in the North of England*. Like actually ringing them up and emailing them.

Yes, pointless.

* This is very, very far away from the South of England.

Racking up quite a few 'Happy New Year's in replies to emails I've sent that haven't included it. Can't help but infer a bit of sass .

At least it makes for a replacement "I hope your well hun x" for the first couple of weeks of the year, I suppose.

Decided to make a big change and have been applying for jobs in London and York. I'm currently in North East England and always have been. Spent ages doing applications over the Christmas break so will hopefully get an interview or two and see what happens.

With absolutely no real good reason after 4 years+ of being fully remote I now have to go back to the office 2 days a week. This strawberry floating sucks so much.

I just wasted 2 days in there and they sprung the news on me today that it'd be every single strawberry floating week. What a huge waste of time.
