Work poo number 3 took its sweet time, but it's finally here.

Can't believe the Bradford Factor has evolved into the Huddersfield Factor. Wait until its final form, the Leeds Factor, which sees anyone displaying symptoms of any kind, at any time, executed on the spot.

You may laugh, but you are strawberry floated once the Bristol Stool factor comes in.

My argument is that it's because I have a strong metabolism and I eat a lot of (mostly healthy) food to fuel my active lifestyle, but I still feel like I have to try and sneak out of the toilet and back to my desk every time, even though it must be obvious to everyone that I've just been dropping bombs!

Welcome to Brexit!

This kind of policy will become the norm soon. And it's absolutely no surprise that they are bringing it in through the NHS. It'll be forced through as legislation, and then the rest of the sectors will decide to follow. We're just becoming the 51st state. A state where you can be sacke for not working overtime (for no extra pay!), no redundancy payments, taking holidays is frowned upon etc.

Brexit and US trade deals will not help, but this gooseberry fool has been going on for ages. The Bradford Score was just the start of the gooseberry fool that is to come.

And it is all aided and abetted by stupid people who moan about other people being sick. The attitude of “Why should they stay home when I managed to come in” is what is going to screw us all over as arseholes cheer on the destruction of sick pay and then the same banana splits will moan when they keep getting sick.

yeah, there's always some mongs who think that their boss is doing them a favour by forcing them to work 40 hours per week for 50 years. But doesn't mean we should let the little maggots get away with this point of view. They need telling, and making a banana split out of. These are the same types that are slagging you off behind your backs to management, to get themselves higher up the chain.

I dunno about the Bradford score - it's flawed to strawberry float, but it isnt really taking anything away from us...yet. I mean, i can still take a week off work for no real reason, as i dont need a doctors note. As long as i dont do it 3 times within however many months it is (3? 6?). It's easy to game the system.

Every company has a different score, but it absolutely takes things away from people. A lady I work with suffers from severe migraines. A couple of those per year plus a heavy cold/norovirus bug and suddenly she is up gooseberry fool creek.

And that’s my big dislike of the system. Those that want to game the system can do so, those that actually suffer get strawberry floated by it.

They’ve now linked our Bradford scores to bonuses and pay rises. 3 absences in a 12 month period will result in ineligibility for bonuses and reward payments. 4 absences in a 12 months period will result in no pay rise the following year.

All while sanctimonious banana splits sit here saying to everyone else “well I haven’t had a sick day in 2 years so I don’t see the problem with the system!” while they sneeze and cough everywhere.

Fortunately I have the self imposed option of actually following the law with this one.

Really felt like a hamster who made it round the wheel again today. Thursday/Friday last week didn't seem to count as it was absolute bare bones in terms of staffing.

It was good to see everyone after the break but I struggled to get into the actual work at all. Is this life for the next few decades? :dread:

^^^^ OMG I feel exactly the same!
Luckily I have some tedious bits of work that keeps me going without having to concentrate too much at the moment.
I just feel like I want to do something in life that is more meaningful to me.
I mean I appreciate the importance of my current job but personally I don't feel satisfied and keep wondering what life would have been like if I had gone down a different path at uni :( it's scary thinking about it because the possibilities seem endless and I'm getting older now how did i past 30 years old

I'm the same in wondering where I'd be if I hadn't got distracted and gone down the animation route instead of strengthening my writing by focusing on that career path. Future of Mario Kart could have been a series on Nintendo Life or GamesRadar.

I'm also feeling like that more recently. I just feel like I should be doing something different but I don't have any real skills or passions that can be applied to a working environment. Just got to power on through the drudgery and make the most of my free time.

Glad I'm not alone in feeling this way. Sorry that wasn't suppose to come across as selfish though.

What field are you currently working in if you don't mind me asking?

For me when I see my peers and managers above me I just don't feel like I would truly enjoy doing what they do. I don't feel that I have the same passion as they do towards their careers. Also I feel stupid sometimes...like I fear saying something in a meeting at work in case I sound stupid and when I do say something a lot of the times its something obvious lol or something no one has the answer to because they didn't consider it either possibly because it was a pointless question.

Deep down I feel that I want to go back to university to study ... I don't even want to say what it is as I don't for sure if its what I truly want as I have been thinking about it for years on and off. If I truly wanted to then I would have probably just gone for it years ago but it keeps picking at me...plus its extremely competitive and time very time consuming. But there are just too many factors in life now like I have to pay a mortgage, my age, starting over again etc etc.

Think I need to read some self help books...hope they'll make me feel better.

First sales call of the month... turns out to be something I don't explicitly offer even remotely similar to anywhere on my website yet they call me anyway. This is why I don't always answer the phone, it's always people who have a really flaky idea of what they want, chancers, cheapies, no organisation skills, don't read emails, don't read contracts, want all the time in the world handed over to them (for free) etc. But you never know so I send a text and call them back.

Not sure if people calling every number that shows up on Google Local is helpful or not. And of course, they want to send pics of their existing design work via Whatsapp. So that means adding whatsapp to a new phone, registering it, taking a pic of a QR code on desktop, adding a contact to the phone, writing sales message on the laptop because like strawberry float am I tapping in a sales pitch on a 5" screen, message sent, not read after 10 minute phone call and 30 mins researching possible solutions...

Threw £100 a month out there for animated digital signage (need to pay for a cloud management solution and set up a custom raspberry pi, plus monthly design/work updates)... for a kebab shop, yeah... no. Probably won't bother following up on that one. Until next time. At least I have a rough idea how to do it for the future but really not that interested in anything digital these days as it's 100% admin and 100% screen time which does my nut in and prices are always getting pushed lower and lower because "it's just photoshop innit" etc etc. If it's so easy and you don't want to entrust a design professional and pay them properly then just do it yourself, or don't do it at all.

Why the strawberry float a brand new pretty generic, low end food establishment (this is hardly fine dining or anything trying to grab eyes in the city) needs flashy digital signage is beyond me, I seriously doubt there's the budget for that and even if there is, it'll end badly as that business is not going to differentiate and pull in enough punters to make up the initial investment (there are three established joints within a mile just on Google Maps). Probably better off staying well clear of that sort of thing. The product to blame is of course the product/service offering (the food), but all that resentment can build up and end up falling on other suppliers that have a limited impact on the success of the business. Need to be careful with startups like that.

That said, it's good some people are brave enough to invest in a new establishment... especially in January. Provided they are aware of how substantial that investment needs to be if they are asking for things like digital signage. Which I suspect, they are not aware of that.

Someone just got pissy with me because the IT who sits near me isn't in.

"He told me he'd have a laptop ready for me TODAY!"

The strawberry float has that got to do.with me? strawberry float off.
