I'd gladly meet for a crimbo meal if we could all sit outside. I mean it would be strawberry floating freezing, but I'm not missing out on a chance for Christmas food.

Oh god, the office lunch. Last year was a real treat, because there was no way it could happen. Just hoping that we get a reprieve this year too.

Nah, they are prepared this year. You all have to make your own xmas lunch at home, and then use teams with the cameras on so you can all judge each others hom... food and have a "good time".

This might actually be worse than a pandemic.

The worst part is you know someone in a position of authority in a company had to be talked down from doing it, there is no way on earth someone didn't want it to happen.

Some senior manager is leaving and today is his last day, so on the department meeting this morning everyone is falling over themselves to say how great it was working with him, what a great guy he was and how they hope to see him again in future.

Cannot stand that bullshit, he's your boss not your friend.

We had that the other week for someone who was publicly downplaying covid and saying he wanted the office covid restrictions taken down as soon as possible. Given I was the only person in the office wearing a mask the other week, maybe they all agree with him.

I've been in the same role for 5 and a half years now. I advise members of the public how to navigate the legal system once they've been charged or if they are looking to instigate legal proceedings for one reason or another. It's mostly rewarding as people are generally very thankful for the guidance we offer, but I am seeking a completely different challenge.

The CEO of th company that do the design and marketing work for our organisation put an ad up on LinkedIn asking for folk to get in touch if they fancied something new with a creative element to it. I went for the interview yesterday and feel it went really well. Feels like they'd want me to do some kind of account manager role whilst being trained up in the marketing, copywriting and design elements of the job. I acknowledged the fact I have next to no experience in the field other than a heavy comms background, but they said that's why they kept the ad vague; they wanted people from different industries.

Waiting to hear back as they have some people to see next week but am optimistic and even if I don't get it, I don't feel I could've done much more at the interview.

Design is essentially coded (or rather effective design is decoded) communications so you have that.

Good luck proto! Hope the change in industry is rewarding.

Glad you feel like you nailed the interview - all the best!

Just asked a colleague if she enjoyed her trip to Canada.

Really wish I'd remembered she went for her grandmother's funeral :fp:

Oof. Hopefully she was understandable about that. And not... y'know... "Were we anywhere but work I'd punch you in the face so hard you'd end up in New York"
