If the government don't care can you expect the public to care.

I think people should care don't get me wrong but stuff like this starts at the top.

I just stormed out of work the angriest I think I've ever been.
I work in a warehouse and they've now got someone working with Covid.
I have kept work fully up to date on the fact that I live with my elderly parents and my Mum is in the highest tier of risk and will be screwed if she gets covid.
None of the supervisors or management bothered to tell me we had a covid case wandering about where I work and they seemed totally shocked when I told them I'm going home.

They tried to make out I was in the wrong which just made me angrier as I reiterated my position with my Mum.

I'm at a point where I don't care if I have to go unpaid and will happily sit before disciplinary for being rude as the health of my family is non-negotiable.

Anyway, sorry about that rant folks I'm just totally pissed off.

Youre totally right about this. Im now angry at your work too.

Thanks  .

I went back in and we came to an agreement that's I'd stay off work for the week and that from now on I would be told if we have a covid case so I can be moved.

I’m in a similar position myself, I tested positive yesterday and have mild symptoms. My employer told me I was permitted to come to work. I said I would feel irresponsible going into work with covid and they accepted my request to isolate without issue but I imagine there are many thousands of people going into work with covid with the approval of their employer.

I’m glad that Peter is able to isolate but I imagine there will be others he works with who also have vulnerable family members they come into contact with who may not know they’re working with an infected colleague. Vulnerable family member or not, who wants to work with someone who’s tested positive for covid? Without full disclosure to all those potentially affected this is wrong in so many ways. While the government has clearly made another huge mistake here it’s disappointing that some employers are seemingly happy to follow that guidance from the government alone.

The reaction to that leaked Wilko memo encouraging infected staff to go into work shows that there is a disconnect between the government guidance and those directly impacted by it. In this case the staff and customers of Wilko. Imagine the reputational damage if one of those affected became seriously ill or died as a result. It wouldn’t be worth the reputational damage to say nothing of the obvious human tragedy.

There's basically no way of tracing this back to them so nothing would ever happen.

These people don't care how many people die, they just want people in work.

A guy I work with and sit right opposite so obviously has covid at the moment. "I've done a test and it's negative" as he sits coughing and sniffing all day with his voice 2 octaves below normal, and tells tales of how he spent all weekend in bed.

I'm due to go for my one day a month at the office tomorrow, but my brother (who I saw on Sunday) has just tested positive for Covid.
I'm testing myself today and tomorrow, but people at work already think I'm just making excuses not to come in (Due to making it absolutely no secret how much I despise going in and how utterly pointless I know it is)

I have to cover our office on Thursday, but I won't be alone which I'm not super happy about. Hope your brother is ok man.

Funny thing is I'm going in as basically a last resort and my manager said if I speak to this other guy he might be able to go in for me, but I get the feeling that that's somewhat of a trap and I should just go in and get it over and done with. I've not been in the office since before Christmas.

Cheers.
My brother is triple jabbed and has actually had Covid before.
His wife is only double jabbed (She works in a care home but refuses to get the booster :fp: ) and they've both said they won't ever get their daughter (about to turn 6) vaccinated because they're falling for the bullshit anti-vaxx "There's evidence it might make girls sterile" line :fp: :fp: :fp: :fp:

Sounds like the cold thats going around tbh. I had it a few weeks ago, and tested negative every day I had it. Either that or I'm a superspreader.

I'm having such a shitty day at work today, the phone won't stop, the constant email tickets are driving me mad and I know I've got to go to the office on Thursday which is making everything feel worse. strawberry float today is a struggle.

Decided to leave my job in the near future. Is too much work and after almost 5 years, I'm sick of it.

I've got an all expenses paid trip to the US in early May so will hang about for that though. :shifty:

Not sure how long I need to wait after that to avoid there being bad blood. Maybe early June handing in the resignation..?

Are they funding your trip to the US for work purposes that are specifically around mid/long-term goals involving you as an individual rather than the holder of your post e.g. networking, building personal relationships etc that you can't just hand over entirely to your successor?

Honestly, that's not Rocsteady's problem. If they're overworking him they get what they deserve.

We have a small team that hasn't met in person since pre-covid so the generic reason is team building. I have a couple of presentations to do but nothing major.

Hah aye the consultancy world can be small though. I'd rather leave on as good terms as possible.

All internal? Bollocks then, just do whatever you're being paid to do out there to the best of your ability and there's no real reason why you should feel bad about leaving shortly after.
