Having checked factory audits for garment production facilities, the minimum wage and working every day except Sunday is normal in India. Overtime while optional and more pay is let's face it probably expected.

Basically India does work more hours than "us" and that's partly why manufacturers are there. I think Bangladesh alone has something nuts like 80% of global apparel weave, cut and sew but I can't remember.

Great news.

I recently had my mandated increased at work and my manager said they are trying to get my an out of cycle pay rise but could take a couple of months. (This was a month ago)

I'm the highest mandated underwriter on my side of the business now so hopefully they can do something.

Nearly got made redundant back in August but managed to secure a role doing UK eyes only contracts (they offshored our jawbs).

Now until these new contracts are all onboarded I have to help train up the people who replaced my colleagues who I considered friends, I know it's not personal but less than ideal.

But there was nowhere else locally I could get a gig for the 44k I'm on just now, as tempting as the redundancy package was. Applied for loads of places asking if I could do a network engineer job full remote but everyone wants some form of hybrid at the very least. Was quite disheartening knowing it's work here or change career and slash that pay! I've worked too hard to skill up over the past 5 years to start working retail or similar (nothing wrong with that and I'm not looking down but you should always take the best option available to you).

But I'm sure if I stick it out those of us who are left will get past this transition period.

Great day yesterday, had a meeting with my manager who said she’s been impressed with my progress that she’s put me through for a pay rise which has been accepted by the higher ups an extra £2K a year and it’s separate from the annual company one which we will get in Jan.

Nice way to go into Xmas, could do with the extra cash with all these energy bills

My old manager from my previous school got in touch and wants me to come work for her again in a new school.

Got a meeting with her and the head after school, bricking it because this is a really good chance to get out of a really frustrating school.

Was dealing with the public (mostly incarcerated) but now moved into research. It's mundane just now, but I think once I'm given more autonomy it'll improve.

It's basically data entry. I look through lists, pick out information then input it.

Ahh cool, tbf it’s not far off what I do in Accounting not dealing with the public is a big plus though for sure. Hopefully you’ll end up liking it more as you get on.
