eco solvent transfer or otherwise?

It's an ink, not a glue :capnscotty:

(actually it's solvent ink on a 80 micron polyurethane flex with a ~10 micron layer of hotmelt adhesive but that's getting technical)

Nah my family are the type (well my mother) who randomly throws thought processes into the air like, the sort of questions that have no fathomable answer whatsoever because I am not inside her brain, plus a tendency to point at things in whole other rooms and refer to "please get that on the table please" (there are five strawberry floating tables or 10 cupboards in the vicinity; she's disabled btw). She will also ask for things and then change her mind 20 seconds later when you have just got the thing she asked for etc. And my brother will answer everything that could possibly be interpreted as a statement of fact with a contrary fact or correction of some kind and get increasingly heated and angry for no reason because he grew up feeling stupid with dyslexia; only turned out I had just as if not more severe learning difficulties but got a degree anyway.

So like working in an office with a bunch of people with zero people skills, then, hardly my idea of a peaceful holiday away from work lol

My granny's OK as she has dementia and so barely talks and just smiles. Thus encompasses my total interaction with other human beings over the next two weeks. Hopefully can meet with one or two friends and enjoy some holiday time!

Also posting in the work thread at 2am on a Sunday is for the self-employed types with no concept of working hours, go back to Animal Village where the happy creatures live!

I thought that being a transfer might technically qualify it as glue-like enough :shifty:

I think peaceful christmas breaks are not really much of a thing, but yeah meeting up with friends is always good when you can

Glue is a component but the more hazardous thing is the heatpress which for some goes up to 177 degrees and is basically a giant exposed iron which will give you third degree burns in seconds :dread: Some other tee decorators using them call this the "kiss" - generally a red triangle branded into the back of your hand for a couple of months.

I definitely have some whiskey from my girlfriend's aunt so I will enjoy that with my friend/bass guitarist who is coming over from the Netherlands... but is spending most of Xmas finishing his PhD thesis in philosophy :dread:

(To be fair on him, he managed to bag one of the only paid fellowships in the whole of Europe, I just don't envy him having that task falling the other side of New Years Eve.)

I'm going to finish my work now so I can actually holiday for realzies.

Yep, it's what us crazy accountants shorten capital expenditure to.

Basically finance bullshit for moving money around internally between departments.

It’s more to do with the type of spend. Your Capex should be spent on things you get benefit from for a number of years (IT hardware for example) whereas your Opex (operating expenditure) will be spent on the day to day running costs (salaries, rent etc). The approaches to budgeting, cost cutting and the accounting treatment of the costs is different for both.

So finance bullshit yes but more than just moving money between departments.

So capital investments and overheads then?

Why don't people just use normal accounting terms?

One of the things that always bug me about larger companies that everything seems to require referring to in a manner that makes it sounds 10x more important and complicated than it actually is. Generally comes paired with salary expectations and ability to fire.

I'm very knowledgeable about all sorts of things but a lot of people assume I'm some kind of charlatan because I don't use gooseberry fool loads of buzzwords and understanding things on a more generalist, theoretical and practical level that is necessary to do the thing. Whereas there are people out there who speak in code just to protect their knowledge which is bullshit imo.

No it's not more efficient to talk like an android, I appreciate not everyone does this, but there are definitely jobs out there that are up to their eyeballs with bullshit terms. Tbh I think if you can't explain a job it probably isn't worth doing.

I'm not really talking about technical terms either, i.e. words that have been invented to describe actual complex theoretical constructs for which no existing words are sufficient in one sentence. For example, polymorphism is a favourite one. Tbh I can't even remember the definition I just like it, it's to do with object oriented programming. You can call that OOP if you want, but that's more bullshit.

Edit: I realise I just did that earlier but those are actual nouns and names of products, chemicals and unit measurements, not made up contractions of otherwise pronounceable words most people can understand. I find it trivialises knowledge and opens it up to stupid people to sound important or clever people to be treated stupidly because they generally aren't lazy enough to make up abbreviations and contractions for every other word they say.

Anyway, the real reason I'm ranting is my ISP switch hasn't finished in 5 days and I'm uploading photos for my print job to my customer on 4G which is taking strawberry floating forever for a 1MB image. I want to go to strawberry floating bed and go on holiday already. strawberry float. And it's SUNDAY. And my customer still hasn't confirmed if they're going to show up or not so why am I doing it now.

At the end of the day, capex, opex and other acronyms are just quicker to say

They are extremely standard accounting terms though.

Yup at work today and tomorrow and bored out my mind. There's 8 of us in the office out of a possible 20. Almost feels pointless being here. I've finished the year €900k above my personal sales target :slol: it's not like I've got much else to do.

Thankfully though once tomorrow is done I'm off until the 2nd while a lot of the office is in the warehouse doing full stock checks so sucks to be them!

I've come to the (unsurprising) realisation that I don't like what I do, don't care about it, and think I ought to just find a different career - so I'm really not looking forward to the next month!
