You can prove anything with "so called" twitter. Probably just need to restart your router and check the microfilter.

Been made to travel to another site for the second time in 3 weeks with discussions we might be going in March too.

The sites closing so we are going down to learn tasks before they go at the end of March.

I've challenged constructively that they should also travel to our site but have been told they can't because they have family, commitments etc.

I'm thinking of refusing to go down in March it's another week of leaving the monday at 6am for a 5 hour communite staying in a hotel til Friday and then another 5 hour commute home.

Probably not going to go down well but others been made to go down aren't overly happy either.

If their site is closing I imagine the company is trying to piss them off as little as possible.

If you were having your site closed you are going to be strawberry floated off at best, making hem travel is going to make handover even less effective.

It sucks you need to do the travel but it’s from sounds of it a couple of weeks in an extreme case so I would just go with it it doesn’t sound like that much of a hardship if I’m honest, although I don’t know the details obviously.

Do you work in like an office of loners, or what? The argument that they've got family and commitments sounds like such a lame excuse :slol:

I reckon Errkal's spot on about them not wanting to upset all the bois they're getting rid of, but even so. What are they actually going to be teaching you that you couldn't learn from a distance?

I think if it wasn't made out like they won't due to commitments etc I wouldnt be as bothered. I have a lot going on at home but have been accomdating.

One of the guys wasnt going to come today and they got pressured into coming down by our manager which I felt was really underhand.

His wife has only recently had a child and so it's not like he didn't have a legitimate reason not to be away from home for so long.

I have suggested doing the training via Loop Up where we can share screens or video conference but they feel some of work is too complex.

Dread to think how much they're spending on shipping everyone up and down for weeks at a time. No wonder they're having to close sites.

Sounds like the people at the closing site are being dicks, which I kind of get they are being binned off, and the company needs to retain in the info so sadly as you are all staying you lot get to go on a road trip.

It’s not like they can do much to those they are getting rid of so I imagine the company is in a bit of a rock and a hard place.

Potentially they could have handled it better, it seems like maybe they see people more as a resource than a person so didn’t factor in those they are binning off might not be mega happy and accommodating around handing their work over.

They will save something like a million by closing the site down in rent alone and about another million in wages minus whatever the people been made redundant get paid out.

Three weeks ago: offered promotion at work and accept.

One week ago: someone else offers me a job, however it is less than the new post I was offered so I decline.

This week: recruitment informs me that they offered me the new job due to administrative error.

In other words, our recruitment department are useless strawberry floaters and made me a fake offered that led to me declining a real one.

I am tempted to just tell them to strawberry float themselves and walk out at the moment.

Any chance of going back to the declined job?

No idea. I suppose I should probably call them tomorrow and see, however I suspect they would have almost immediately contacted the next preferred candidate.

Anyway, I suppose it's kind of my fault for trusting them. I have heard no end of horror stories about the recruitment ballsing things up and my situation is not unique.

In just over a month the five day working week will be a thing of the past for me. Good strawberry floating riddance.

Did they know you were looking for another job?

Just tell them the truth. Ask for a raise or you'll keep looking elsewhere. That's the least they can do for messing you around, even if you only get something small like a panel discussing why you aren't happy with the job and what they should do about it.

In mid December I was told I was getting a pay rise. Today I got paid, but the normal amount. Bastards.

Surely they are paying you for any extra hours over your normal travelling time? Your contract of employment will have your place of work defined. Any 'site' visits, your time starts from when you leave your house.

I’ve worked a 4 day week for years and you soon get used to it and dread it just as much.

I wouldn’t go back to 5 days a week though. :dread:

Did your wages go down when you went to 4 days?

No. I work a full week, I just compress it into 4 days rather than 5.
