Anyway I have withdrawn from the event and realise under the terms and conditions I am still liable to donate £100 to the charity. I decided to ignore it but the communications team at my work place have emailed me asking me to donate and then send them a receipt as proof. WTF?
Should I pay it or just ignore them as they are only an internal department...not like they will fire me or take me to court.

Thanks Dual. I did reply to their email saying I didn't realise but i'll try to pay it in the coming weeks hopefully. But the girl from communications say they do make it clear to people signing up and that i have to pay it before the event starts rather than the coming weeks.
I'll keep ignoring her for now. Just don't want to get into trouble at work lol

Also I was wondering if I was being unfair for avoiding the payment as I did sign up.

Did you realise you might be liable for £100 when you signed up?

What’s the charity?

Depends if they've implicitly told you that they wanted minimum £100, regardless of whether you participate or not?

Also, what justicification for the £100? Seems like they're profiteering out of it.

So I heard this evening that last week on days, (it must have been on my day off), our delightful line manager popped his head out of his office and told two of my colleagues (one Slovakian the other Polish) to not speak Polish to each other when at work as it was disrespectable to everyone else.

No one has reported him for fear of backlash.

Chew that strawberry floater down folks.

I think Prince Philip is worth about $30m so he'll probably be fine.

He needs to pay for taxis now though so he needs every penny.

I don't think it has been justified, it's just a minimum donation.
Thanks guys! I'll continue to ignore their emails then.
Even though I was aware of the terms and conditions I felt peer pressured to join and thought it was alright as so many others are doing it. But now that most have dropped out I Am having second thoughts. Lesson learnt...never ever get involved again if I don't want to.

If you knew you’d be liable for £100 then you ought to pay it.

But I don’t think they can really make you do it.

I don't want to come across as a dick back tracking lol so I may eventually pay it but for now I'll ignore them and see what happens.
Yeah I honestly don't see how they could force me though as it isn't a debt that I own them.

Exactly, you knew the cost so you’ll look a dick if you try and back out. But if you avoid it for long enough then it’ll probably be forgotten.

The company probably promised a minimum amount per person so they want you to pay since they'll have to if you don't.

Got this interview at 10 and I've done zero prep so far. Desperately trying to cram it in now but for some reason I can't concentrate for longer than about 20 seconds before I end up doing something else... like posting on here :shifty:.

Feel like I can't really be arsed as I know two of the other people going for it and they have more experience than me. Also it's within my current wider directorate and it'll be a massive ballache to go through another campaign to replace my existing role, so I feel like that's counting against me as well.
