I'm an early starter/leaver and it goes the other way as well. "Haha are you part time!".

People are weird. As long as the work gets done, why do people give a gooseberry fool what hours other people are working?

If anything people who leave bang on time should be the ones praised. strawberry float the people who stay back unpaid or turn up early for no reason.

My wife was telling me that a girl at her work kept getting criticised because she turned her work mobile off at 5.30pm on Fridays. That's not professional apparently.

Got in to the office at 08:40 this morning, first thing someone says to me? "Afternoon" :fp:

He was joking to be fair, but some people are just dicks about time keeping matters sadly. I've been pretty fortunate in that this sort of thing has never really been a problem on any of the teams I've worked on during my career.

My company does actually have a "core hours" definition in our contracts (or at least it did last time I checked!) which says we should be in the office from 9-5 each day but the actual way every team operates doesn't really pay any attention to this and management allow a considerable amount of flexibility on start and end times. Basically as long as you get your work done and are around for about the right amount of time across the week then everyone is happy!

This is me. As soon as that second ticks to 5 I'm straight out the door. Everyone else just sits there continuing to work and it's strawberry floating weird.

I'd be far more likely to do it if it worked both ways. But they will demand you make up as little as 5 minutes of time if you're late/leave early. So like strawberry float am I giving them any time for free.

At my work they make you download a clocking in app on your phone. I deleted it at the start of lockdown as they added a feature that pinged your location to management and I won't be downloading it again. I don't see why I should be expected to download tracking software onto a personal device.

A clocking-in app is bad enough, but one with location tracking is just :dread:

And I think I'm done with my current workplace. So much bullshit, and quite a toxic atmosphere of blame and finger-pointing and people refusing to take responsibility. The few good people have started leaving now because they can see it's gone to gooseberry fool, and so I think I need to do the same. Being unwilling to engage in games, politics, and the aforementioned blame game means you just make life much harder for yourself here.

So that means the joy of job searching, applying, and interviews, etc. :dread: It's such a soul-destorying experience, and I hate it. And mustering enthusiasm in interviews and trying to sound positive is such hard work.

Get assigned a brand new ticket for a client im not supposed to be supporting this week and someone I don't really think is good at his job took over for me (he ended up going to London to support them so I didn't have to thankfully). I told them I shouldn't be assigned this just because it's something I've done before and we've been moaned at for supporting said client while not on the shift to do so so I said I'm going to reassign it.

They said I needed to put a note in the ticket of what to do. It's a brand new strawberry floating ticket, he's going to need to read the ticket anyway so why do I need to waste my time reading something I'm not doing anything with to explain something that's explained perfectly well in the first line of the ticket text.

This strawberry floating company man.

What the strawberry float happened to make you stay so late?

Yeah strawberry float that.

Oh I'd finished long ago, sorry I was really drunk at that point  just reiterating my love for WFH.

I can confirm it's much easier to have a hangover at home, too!

"Send us your tips and tricks for managing your wellbeing while working from home! Examples include: taking a walk and staying hydrated!"

Sure thing, I find that regularly inhaling and exhaling air into and out of my lungs keeps me fresh and ready to work. Also, I take a giant gooseberry fool at about 10am, really cleans me out. Great thing is that I can actually see my toilet from the desk I'm forced to sit at for eight hours a day.

strawberry float. Off. With this bullshit. If you want basic bitch one liners that avoid addressing any actual systemic issues concerning the wellbeing of employees, think of them yourself.

Something else amazing happened. In the 25 or so tickets I had this morning I missed that I had a ticket for one of our clients being down.

I recieved an automated email saying I got the ticket that I didn't read, because I also got 10 others at the same time and not once did anyone mention to me in a chat message or a phone call just to say hey dude watch out you got this urgent thing.

I swear they sit there wanting to get annoyed so do everything possible to make it possible to fail.

Now something else. Today is on another level of bullshit.

Apparantly peoples logged time is not matching up on tickets so they're going to send out a strawberry floating report. How about you help out and do some strawberry floating tickets rather than waste time going over things we've already closed.

I've been both early and late, morning or evening, both in different companies and the same company. I've arrived early, only for nobody to be there, I've arrived late, only for nobody to care, I've arrived on time, only for everyone else to be late (including my managers), I've worked late, only for people to complain about it, I've left on time, only for people to frown about that.

Conclusion: strawberry float people.

I remember once upon a time I had a clocking in drama when I worked at the cinema.

It was a place that seemed to have about ten managers, all bitching about each other constantly.

One day I had a lunch break and I came down and got told I'd clocked in one minute late to come back - bit petty.

I told them I hadn't, I'd clocked in on time.

They said I hadn't.

I said go check.

They said no.

I told them 'I wasn't asking you, I'm telling you - if you're accusing me you can go upstairs and strawberry floating CHECK.'

They declined and mumbled something.

I can't deal with that kinda dogsbody gooseberry fool.

I just don't understand how they can be so bad at managing staff. The second we start doing really well, get the overall ticket numbers down and everyone starts to feel happy they start getting anal over strawberry floating nothing. It achieves nothing and all it does is make people hate working.
