Well, ain't that just lovely. Bet he wouldn't like the same thing said to him unless it was specifically known as a joke.

Hope nothing serious comes from you having covid, and that it passes without much effect.

Don't feel guilty, I agree with you. It's going to strawberry float me mentally.

strawberry floating hell, imagine being that weak.

In fairness my immediate thought was that the management are making that up or are making an assumption about the "machine workers" as a weaselly way of telling her to get back/stay in the office.

Might be time for an anonymous facebook post where some of the machine workers might be on.

EDIT: If it's true, management need to ask the machine workers if their own work is affected by the office staff working from home. If not, then they need to be asked why it is of any concern to them. These little strawberry floats with antisocial disorders need putting in their place and leave this behaviour at home.

I think it would be easier if I just committed the rest of my life to never seeing or speaking to my sister-in-law again.

You're a complete jackass. I wish I could have come. At the time I could have cared less that Mom and Dad came to mine, but it was a good thing. The U.N. threw a dinner in honor of me, the first nano-augmented agent.

There's nothing to feel guilty about. We didn't create this situation, we have dealt with it in the safest way possible. It has forced businesses to be more progressive and have people work from home en-masse. I'm sure the potential efficiencies of this approach won't be lost on companies.

Well, aside from Zilnad's, obviously.

Yeah I just mean I feel guilty moaning about something that hasn't even happened yet (potential back-to-normality) while I've been living it up working from home in comfort the whole time a lot of the rest of the world is suffering.

Even if I can WFH for say two days a week, I'll still feel like that's a right shitter compared with how I have it now :slol: ridiculous really.

I have way more motivation to work working at home, being in the office is soul killing and I hope I never have to do it again. I'm off this week, but knowing I'm working from home from next week doesn't feel nearly as bad as knowing I'd have to go to the office.

I agree.

My home working situation is awful. I don't have the space for a proper desk or monitors and thanks to the lockdown I have a little kid running around distracting me. And it's still so much better than going to the office.

If (big if!) I can move to a house and set up a small home office, I'll be happier than I ever have been at work.

I've felt like that for the vast majority of the time, but it has seemed harder than usual to snap out of Christmas mode so far this week.

I always work from home but have less than 0 motivation this week. I honestly think all of the work I've done these three days could have been condensed into less than 2 hours.

So sick of people not reading the detailed emails and briefs I give them, and as soon as they receive it, put a meeting in to 'discuss'. There's nothing TO discuss, I spent 2 hours putting a brief with step by step instructions, pictures and provided assets. If you're not going to bother reading it then I'm going to stop bothering to send anything. For strawberry float sake.

I get the feeling some people are more than happy to fill their time with meetings. I swear my partner spends half her day in meetings rather than just being left to do, you know, her job.

She's on a meeting now actually. Daily thing where the team get together to....chat about anything I guess? Maybe get some important work issues in there too.

My partner was in an all-staff meeting yesterday when the usual lip-service to mental health agenda item came up and the discussion around "how can you look after your mental health" etc.

Amidst the usual suggestions of "make sure you're exercising and meditating" my partner chimed in that it would be very helpful for her mental health if there was a period of time where they can guarantee there won't be any meetings put in the diary.

She suggested one afternoon of guaranteed no internal meetings at the same time each week (the meeting culture at her workplace meant she didn't feel confident enough to suggest a whole day) and so many people immediately piped up very enthusiastically for that idea.

When it's been going for a few weeks she's going to push for a full day.
