So yeah, show us in Dublin how you're treating your staff in London far FAR better. We were all fuming, we can't even watch it on shitty little portable in the canteen without management being annoyed.

Well maybe if Ireland had tried a bit harder in qualifying...

I wouldn't be too jealous, Photek. If they're giving people chance to watch the match in the office they can't have any work to do, so they'll have layoffs soon enough.

I love the way people still say 'flat screen' tv - aside from the curved shite it's the only type you get

Must be a generational thing though, in sure I do it from time to time.

We have one of those massive touch screen TV's that they use on Sky Sports News in our boardroom, we asked if we could watch a match on that, COULD WE FOOK! :x

Maybe you should buck up and contribute as much to the success of the company as the London office

Once Brexit hits the London office will migrate over to the Dublin office, taking those sweet Irish jobs with them.

Nearly 6 months at the new place, loving pretty much everyday which is epic. It turns out I'm pretty good at scripting and that which is awesome I've never really needed to do it so never gone right into but am doing loads of stuff now adding dashboards reporting to system that can only export in csv and just started making databases for my stuff now so I can build a history of data and use it to create trend data in our printing or whatever.

Going to have to update LinkedIn and stuff soon to reflect the more developer nature of my job, until now I've been prodomently windows admin and advanced desktop making and managing builds and shut but this is a proper shift with all kinds of new stuff.

So very glad I went for the move, feels daft to think I wasn't sure about it all.

Proper boss or temp boss ?

Proper boss of my boss who is the boss of the temp boss.

ahh ok, naa leave him he is probably ok. Was thinking it may be a good way to rid yourself of dick manager.

Unfortunately I can’t get rid of him with Russian nerve agent, but I did hear some more stuff about him this morning.

One of the ladies of the team was telling me that she has to have a meeting with HR to discuss her sickness record and to receive a verbal warning. She is furious about it as she has only been sick three times over the last 12 months, two of the times were for operations (that were notified in advance) and the other was when she was off after falling over and seriously damaging her foot. All three times had a sick note. But he is insisting that as she is well over the Bradford Factor score, she has to have a meeting with HR and receive an official warning. To make it worse, the meeting was supposed to have been on Tuesday, but he forgot to organise it with HR and so he has delayed the meeting until next Tuesday. :fp:

She also told me that he got annoyed with her a couple of weeks ago when she asked to change her hours slightly for one day so that she could make a doctors appointment. She wanted to work 8.30-4.30 instead of 9-5 so that she had time to get home and make it to the doctors. He told her to rearrange the appointment as it was not acceptable to book appointments in work time. This is the same temp boss who was out of the office last week for his “stop smoking” appointment.

He also kicked off with somebody yesterday who asked if they could leave one hour early today. This person had already worked extra hours on Monday and so there was no issues with time being made up. Temp bosses last email on the subject said “Going forward, short of an emergency/unavoidable situation (child care etc) I would expect to have at least 24 hours notice, and requests made on the day may be rejected “. This person gave the required notice, but was still dragged off to a meeting room to be told that they have asked to leave early too often and that any future requests would be rejected.

He is such a dickhead.

Can't you perform a hostile takeover and get him fired or something for being a monumental weapon?

The trouble is that he has not done anything to me (yet!). I am just hearing the complaints from other team memebers and seeing the emails that he is sending, but he hasn’t been a tool with me and so I can’t really report it or do anything about it.

He is a massive twat though, it’s going to be interesting when our team leader gets back from maternity leave and he is back to being one of us plebs.

You could show how valuable you are as a leader and unite the team against a common enemy (him).
