Agreed with the majority here. Leave it be. If it becomes a problem, I would assume your bosses won't be shy in letting her know.

Party girl slut shaming etc etc aside my mum was obviously alcoholic behind the scenes at home with giant bags of red win bottles but she was medicating terrible pain in her legs as she got strawberry floated up in a car accident, having to work all night to keep the directorship of her employer going and taking on every else's works when they didn't do it, working all night, she did her job well and got national recognition for it, sometimes there are underlying health problems which are occupational health / GP sort of things, personally I wouldn't go there unless it's making your life hell. So I'd consider the self medication aspect also.

I know it's not medicine, what I mean is there's an underlying problem. Unfortunately some people just won't take medication even if they need it and so wind up doing other things.

You only have to look at the over prescription of prescription narcotics to see that even a prescription can be just as bad or potentially worse. My mum doesn't drink much anymore but that still means's she's alcoholic and she worries a lot about taking painkillers in case she becomes dependent on them, she was just telling me the other day about how it took he longer than average to kick the last course she was on at hospital.

Jesus Tittybanging Christ.

Someone was off work yesterday due to cold/shivers etc.

They've struggled in today, still looking terrible with symptoms. "I thought I'd make the effort"

Work still wanted me to travel to London today. At least now I can start looking forward to lining up my self isolation window with Animal Crossing:New Horizons, I guess.

The fact society has gotten to the point people are willing to throw themselves into work when seriously ill is disgusting.

I had some staff ask me yesterday what the plan is if they end up infected or we close for 2 weeks. And I said aside from SSP I don’t know. Higher ups aren’t helpful but they are also waiting on the government. And they are also going to be looking at the most cost effective route. There’s no company sick pay and I’m definitely going to have staff who can’t pay bills should the worst happen. I was hoping for a boost to SSP or something today from the budget but didn’t see it.

Likewise I can see the cost side of well it’s not practical for companies to pay staff who aren’t there if company sick pay isn’t available normally. But it’s a daunting prospect and horrible when your team come to ask you questions you yourself want answers too.

My entire life right now is everyone in the world asking me what the plan is and me finding new ways to say 'I have no idea'.

It's clear the SMT is spending a lot of time trying to figure it all out but it's pretty much impossible.

I heard the budget today, it brought forward SSP of anyone self certifying for self-isolation for just two days I think, it's not much but a bit faster, although honestly if my memory serves me correctly it was already about 2-3 days. :?

My partner does get sick pay I think so we wouldn't be affected and it would be bloody stupid for people to go into a school if there's an outbreak.

It was funny how for self employed people though you get he usual "just claim benefits lol" a process which generally takes 1-2 months at a minimum and is honestly like a second job in its own right.

We've been advised to have our laptops and chargers at home every night with us. I've also had to stress test the VPN and some of my core systems over the VPN, to make sure it still works.

Fully anticipating a shutdown, I also liberated one of the 27 inch monitors from the office. If I'm going to have to work from home, I'm gonna work from home in style. Next step is to get a keyboard and mouse too...

WebEx took a a massive shite today and had an outage across EMEAR at 3pm

Current thoughts is that it was oversubscribed due to Cisco giving everyone free access thank to COVID-19 and working from home.

This post is exempt from the No Context Thread.
