I expect the likelihood will result in some sort of minimum cover arrangement, which inevitably points to a very small group of people including me as one of the few who doesn't a) have underlying health conditions, b) live with anyone else who does or c) have any other care responsibilities. (Obviously, overall I am not moaning about that!)

If I can protect people in my team who do fall within those groups then I'll still chalk it up as a glorious victory.

So the work keeps piling up and I'm told if the directors could understand my work load a bit better they might be able to hire someone to help with it. Of course, I need to be in the office for that to work so it will have to wait until then.

I'm not even angry about it today. I can't decide if they're just idiots or just nasty but I think it's both. I really think they believe I've been sitting with my feet up the past eight weeks.

Haha you definitely have to laugh at the absurdity of this.

This is also the kind of thing that will come back to bite them in the arse as the work won't get done.

Just keep written records of you constantly warning them that the work won't get done in time.

It may also be worth an up-front response of "I've mentioned several times in the past I won't be able to return to the office for the foreseeable future due to my partner's vulnerability status. I think it's in everyone's interest for this workload to be understood ASAP to avoid preventable problems in the future, and I believe I will be able to adequately explain this via teleconferencing solutions" etc etc.

Do you have an HR department btw?

Unfortunately we don't. They contact an external HR company for advice whenever they have issues.

I'm going to leave the WFH situation for now as my previous email was the last real record of what is happening. If, or more likely when, the June 30th date is extended by the government, I'll send another email in the style you've suggested, pushing for acknowledgment.

Just been asked indirectly (as in I wasn't supposed to know) on behalf of the site boss what software I use to do my job and how to get it :dread:

Just noticed two people from work have suddenly appeared at the top of my "people you may know" list, one of them being one of the arsehole directors. Clearly they've been looking me up this week, more proof that they think I'm untrustworthy and spending my days sitting in the garden, not working. My profile is set to private so all they would have seen is my cover photo of me playing Switch on the stairs with a cat on my lap and my profile picture of my other cat sat at my work laptop :lol:

I'm trying to ignore it but it makes me strawberry floating rage so hard. I have four days annual leave booked for next month but I'm certain that, when I remind them, they're never going to let me take it.

I'm so desperate for this pandemic to be over so I can go to an agency and just get the strawberry float out and start working somewhere else.

I've never liked anyone at this place but they've shown their true selves over the past few weeks and they're all absolute scum.

Is that what that means? Because today I noticed a girl I worked with years ago suddenly popped up on mine, even hotter than I remembered, and I remembered her particularly for being absurdly hot.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure people who've searched for you pop up on your "people you may know". Unless it's an urban myth. But it's definitely way too much of a coincidence that they've both popped up the week I get given gooseberry fool.

I get people on that list who have the smallest link to me, and there's no way they searched for me. Even ones that have given me a notification, I would be willing to bet a large sum of money they don't know my name let alone cyber stalked me.

There are plenty of reasons they could be there - Facebook's algorithms are ridiculously accurate. Look at how many people think they're being recorded because said algorithms are spot on at figuring out what ads to show you.

Do you have their numbers saved in your phone, or them yours? That's one way they can pop up I think.

Oh strawberry float, you guys are right. They both rang my mobile last week so that must be it.

Work have obviously started doing some kind of new "recognition" scheme. Basically it seems like people can nominate others as a way to recognise something special that they might have done. Nice idea in theory but all this seems to result in is the receipt of an "Applaud" email which says little more than "well done".

It's nice to receive a well done email but why it has to be wrapped in this mechanism is bizarre. If a boss or colleague thinks someone has done a good job then just send them an email directly or hell even just chat to them and say "well done, you did a great job with X!". Sticking into some kind of corporate system like this just makes it feel very sterile and meaningless.

Must be how the NHS workers feel during the weekly clapathon!

I've worked in places before where you get amazon vouchers. Only £25 or whatever so didn't exactly cost the firm a lot but good enough that it felt nice receiving.

Yeah I've been at places that do things like that in the past as well, it's a nice gesture to get something tangible. This is literally just a hollow email.
