What a trooper though, working even though he has a cold. Deserves a medal, brave warrior that he is.

Yes, but as he's in the office with some of the other people talking, you can still hear him in the background.

I'm so glad I'm not in the office, he's clearly really ill, sniffing, clearing his throat, sneezing, coughing.

You'd have to ask me to unmute my mic in normal circumstances, why would someone want their mic on all the time.

Emailed a colleague to remind them I'm on annual leave for the next few days so that they can cover my work (which they know how to do) and the director butts in saying I need to ring the person "out of courtesy".

I'm not being that guy who rings someone up to say "did you read my email yet"

If I was covering someone's work I'd definitely appreciate a verbal handover along with an email though.

Well I'll ring them at the end of the day if I haven't heard back? Is that a good compromise, boss?

Sounds like your deliberately trying to set up and sabotage your work colleague tbh

Just rang the guy and he said it's fine and to enjoy my days off.

I hope we can all forget I was an arse and move on now

It'll be many moons before I can hope to cast your transgressions from my mind, Zilnad.

I've started walking to the marina at break and lunch because I don't want to be stuck in a portacabin with loads of other people in the Corona capital of the UK, and the downside is one of the occupants of the boats there has started to come and say hello when he sees me. He's a German 'pirate' called Jan who lives an itinerant life on the high seas and has no teeth, and I just want a quiet moment away from all the skeletons I have to dig up.

Anyone here applied for that "working from home tax relief" with HMRC? I just submitted my application as I've been working from home since March. Not expecting a big cheque in the post or anything, but every little helps.

Yep I did it as soon as the simplified process was launched. All it does it alter your tax code – think it works out about an extra £5 net a month.
