Ospreay I think is heading for the G1 this year, so he'll get to the final to stay looking strong, but will ultimately lose out to Shingo.
That'd be an amazing end to it. Sorry, I wasn't sure how the rest of the tournament played out (if it's all down to points or other factors), but it definitely makes more sense having it finish like that.
EDIT: I also hadn't realised how many matches they still had to wrestle
The winner of Block A faces the winner of Block B in the final. Generally, we'll go into the last block night with 2 or 3 wrestlers in each block still mathematically able to win the block and often they will be facing each other (by coincidence of course
). If 2 wrestlers are on equal points, their head to head record determines who wins. There will often by spoilers on the final night too, where a wrestler with a chance of reaching the final will take an upset loss.
This year, the final night (with the BoSJ final as the main event on top of a card of multiman tags etc) is in Ryogoku Sumo Hall, which has a capacity of 11,000, whereas usually it's at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, which is about 3,000 (and last year was at Korukuen Hall due to Olympics preparations n work ongoing at Yoyogi). So, it's a big jump in the number of tickets they need to sell, which has lead a lot of people agreeing that they really need to do a big match as the final in order to draw.
