Also of note, they announced for the first time ever in the US (certainly from any major promotion) ‘an exploding barbed wire death match’ for their Revolution PPV. Looks like they’ve skipped ECW (who did have barbed wire ring ropes, which was the big selling point for videogame ECW Hardcore Revolution) and just gone straight to something like CZW wrestling. I think you’ve got to go exclusively to Japan, with the likes of Terry Funk and Cactus Jack, as no regulatory official in the US would sign off on the explosive aspect.

I found their lights out match uncomfortable viewing, so strawberry float knows what this is going to be like. I presume this is how Moxley is going to be written off TV for a number of months.

What with this and the return of Sting to action, this PPV really deserves a big live crowd.

Did everyone else know that there was a sort flip side to the Jerry Lawler/Bret Hart feud around the time of the first King of the Ring?

That was a good video, I don’t really watch wrestling much now but I love Brian Zane’s videos.

Seth Rollins and Sani Zayn shouldn’t be on the same brand, they’re practically the same character.

After tonight I’m starting to wonder if they’re going to do a David Arquette and have Bad Bunny win the WWE title at WrestleMania...

Sheamus vs Drew in a number 1 contenders match and Lashley vs Miz at Fastlane, resulting in Lashley vs McIntyre. Bad Bunny maybe interfering and costing Miz the title, leading to a tag match between Bad Bunny and Priest against Miz and Morrison all at Mania is the other logical (better) alternative.

Paul Wight is All Elite.

Unless tonight’s AEW Dynamite is taped, they really should have had him just show up on TV first. What a surprise that would have been. Nobody knew his contract with WWE had expired.

Most things have to be announced on social media these days to create an immediate buzz, 20 years ago you’d have to wait until after the show a wrestler debuted on and hope that that buzz popped the ratings for the show the following week. Obviously a surprise would have been better product wise but unfortunately we live in a world with a very short attention span.

Definitely a shame it wasn't kept as a surprise. Good signing for the name but hopefully they'll be using him mostly for commentary.

Indeed, would have been great as a surprise appearance. I still think he’s got time left in him in the ring as well, seems like a really good guy as well.

AEW have also been teasing more big names to follow.

Jocephus, aka The Question Mark, has passed away. Another shock one that. Absolutely loved the Question Mark character on Powerrrr and he breathed new life into Aron Stevens too.

I was just sitting here watching him thinking to myself how WCW used to have this bloke called The Renegade and he was this lame imitation of the Ultimate Warrior (who then actually doubled as the Warrior in 1998) and this Hollywood Hunk comes across as such a crappy version of Dolph Ziggler that it has to be intentional.

Not often any more you get WWE having a show long storyline with a worthwhile and surprise pay off at the end. I bet everyone would have been expecting some shitty non-finish last night on RAW leading to the PPV.

I've never really got why WWE seem to knacker the TV show to try and sell PPVs or Network subs. Back in the attitude era, almost every Raw was really hot, which drove the PPV buys as people wanted to see more. However, more often than not, the PPVs weren't as good as Raw.

If they had a hot TV product, it would surely have sold more Network subs.

I wonder in the new world with the subletting of the network in the states, what incentive do they actually have other than to just pump out average TV content? They won't need to chase PPV buys or networks subs. I can only hope that their only source of revenue they can increase in the near term is from the TV money. But with USA and Fox unlikely to pay more, it seems a bit of a hard sell.
