Wow just wow. That would surely hurt wwe significantly.

Really is the end of an era, spanning The Sky Channel in the 80s (which my parents used to record onto VHS for a neighbour), Sky1 in '89 and early 90s, Sky Movies (UK Rampage, SummerSlam 91 and 92) and of course Sky Sports...

Realistically WWE really should now be on free-to-air because if you're a UK fan without a pay TV subscription you've likely got AEW on ITV, IMPACT WRESTLING on 5 and MLW on Freesports, while WWE has now just made itself even more niche. The audience share for BT Sports is awful.

Virgin Media and BT customers will be pleased though as it's considerably cheaper than Sky Sports, but on the downside, BT Sport still isn't sold separately like Sky Sports via NowTV, and is incredibly expensive for Sky customers (£30 a month).

Apparently BT are losing the FA Cup rights to ITV so I guess they're not exactly short of cash. Wonder how much they're paying for it vs Sky.

Would love to be a fly on the wall in Vince's office with this plus the AEW news.

But who in their right mind wants to be compared to the dumpster fire brand that is WCW these days

Well I think WCW in its dying days was still a better program that Raw and Smackdown is presently. I don't think we really appreciate just how poor the current product is. It's worse than Nitro in my opinion as at least stuff happened on Nitro. The last memorable thing I can remember on Raw was the Festival of Friendship and I just googled it and that was back in 2017. It feels like nothing of note has happened since then. I've kept up to date with Raw based on YouTube clips alone for the last 2 years and nothing at all has really captured my attention.

Perhaps it's me looking back with rose-tinted specs, but I remember the Cruiserweight and US title scene being decent until the end. The Heavyweight scene was an utter shitshow though with David Arquette of all people winning the title and the nWo reforming for what felt like the 50th time.

Although I haven't watched WWE in years I've seen that the roster is full of talent so it's a shame to hear the product is still so stale. Maybe I'll check it out on BT Sport but I'll probably just get annoyed and watch AEW.

Not really surprised. The way Sky have been moving it around at times for other programming in the last few months just suggests they didn’t care about it much. They got Basketball now for late night programming. But that’s still a lot of programming to fill.

It certainly leaves a massive hole on Sky Sports Action, Arena and Mix, which were already looking barebones.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Sky dropped the current format and just returned to Sky Sports 1 to 4.

Don’t they sell all the sports separately? So can’t see them doing that.

They probably scrap one of action or arena.

I can't see Sky being too bothered. Viewing figures for WWE are dreadful, there is now free to air competition out there and I can't imagine the PPV business is worth the hassle.

Probably worth it for BT as they can pick up a few hardcore subscribers and get a bit of promotion out of it.

Maybe a discount on the WWE Network will be offered for BT TV/Broadband customers.

Hopefully there’s no bullshit like there was with Sky and Main Event, like NXT UK leaving or being delayed on the Network and moving to BT Sport.

Will be interesting to find out how much BT are paying for it considering how bad the ratings currently are on Sky (even adding all the 1 hour, 2 hour and 3 hour showings together, most weeks WWE RAW doesn’t even hit 100,000 viewers, let alone SmackDown). If the rights fees are too low it would probably indicate Sky really lowballed them with their offer.

That was fantastic. It caught me by surprise because I'm not that familiar with either of them.

Yeah, his inclusion in the main event was something else that surprised me. I'd only seen him in a few matches and always thought he was a comedy wrestler, but then they started reeling off all his past accolades and I was like "what happened?".

Interesting what one of the commentators said about other wrestlers being annoyed when he doesn't have a 'proper' match, I can see quite a lot of truth in that.

Have been getting work mates who have no interest in any combat sports to join. Quite clever marketing tbh

PAC Vs Page no longer happening due to “creative differences” :(

Turns out some others advertised on the card might not be there either... WCW lives!

Surely they must have known how much of an awkward knobend PAC was going into this after what happened in WWE?

There's rumours there might be visa issues with some of the other wrestlers on the show.
