Can't say I'm that impressed with Raw Reunion. It came across as WWE saying "hey remember when we were great, yeah well we are gooseberry fool now"

Apparently WWE will be panic airing NXT head to head with it.

For a company that regularly loves to bitch and moan about how WCW Nitro and Ted Turner ‘could have chosen any night of the week’, here they are trying to counter programme AEW.

Even decided to announce WWE Network’s overhaul today as well...coincidently, I’m sure...

Hasn't NXT always been 8 on Wednesdays?

There’s talk of them moving it to Fox Sports 1 and bumping it to 2 hours. What that would then mean for the Network airing I don’t know. Hopefully it stays on there and isn’t taken off like Main Event was.

I can't get into NXT. The whole premise seems to be to watch some really great talent before they hit the main roster and get turned to gooseberry fool. It all just feels meaningless to me, as generally I don't feel pro wrestling needs a WWE funded development centre when you have a healthy independent scene. Take KO for example, he was miles better in the indies, as was Moxley, Punk and a whole host of others that WWE have dropped the ball with.

Special shout out too to Samoa Joe who was really good right up until he hit the main WWE roster and has generally been wasted when he should be the top heel in the company.

Some of the stories about the likes of PAC, Moxley, Devitt etc moving to NXT and being made to do rolling drills are hilarious too

I always watch the Take Overs, because they’re usually great, but I rarely if ever watch the TV show unless I see a spoiler of something entertaining happening online. The last thing they need to do is make it 2 hours :fp:

Vince McMahon sure did indirectly mention AEW a lot yesterday in their conference call, saying he hopes they don’t do any of that ‘blood and guts crap WWE moved away from years ago’ (what’s it got to do with him?!) and that WWE is a more “sophisticated product”.

They also refused to talk much about their new deal with BT Sport, hiding behind confidentiality agreements (presumably the confidentiality being BT purchased them on the cheap) though this new deal offers them more flexibility (such as airing additional programming on other channels, by the looks of it).

Wasn't there something about Strowman having to do the same flippy exercises as everyone else in NXT too :fp: The training sounds ridiculous and there was a point where a lot of muscle injuries happening because they were being made to do powerlifting and stuff. They seem more concerned with trying to train them as athletes than wrestlers.

The new WWE Network update has introduced sporadic judder/framerate issues with the picture on PS4 Pro. :fp:

Haven’t tried it on Xbox One yet to see if it’s now also present on there.

What was the point of smackville? Show was an hour long and absolutely pointless.

Probably just thrown out there for a stress test for the new Network.

Smackville (another converted house show) was probably also a test run, along with Evolve, to gauge interest on running shows on Saturday nights again against AEW.

Depending how successful AEW is on TNT, as retaliation the option of AEW running PPV quality shows on TNT (or the Superstation TBS) on Sunday night's directly opposite WWE's PPVs could present itself.

Managed to come up with my top 10 for the G1 now that we're at the halfway point, gave up trying to put the following in order, so left it chronologically:

Lance Archer vs. Will Ospreay
Juice Robinson vs. Shingo Takagi
Jeff Cobb vs. Tomohiro Ishii
KENTA vs. Kota Ibushi
Kota Ibushi vs. Will Ospreay
Jon Moxley vs. Tomohiro Ishii
Kazuchika Okada vs. Will Ospreay
Jon Moxley vs. Shingo Takagi
Tetsuya Naito vs. Tomohiro Ishii
Juice Robinson vs. Tomohiro Ishii

MVP: Tomohiro Ishii (like pretty much always)

Unlike on PS4, the new WWE Network app plays smoothly on the Xbox but instead is prone to booting you back to the Xbox home screen when you’re searching the menus or bringing up the buffering circle (while still playing the video) and fast forwarding about 5 seconds.
