Watching it now from elsewhere. Tony Shiavone really needs his impact reassessed. I always felt he was sublime during the attitude era (crimes against Heenan aside) and its like he hasn't missed a beat.

Edit: ITV must be the absolute gooseberry fools technically if they can't get this up by 7pm.

AEW Dynamite comfortably beat NXT in the ratings. 1,409,000 for AEW, 891,000 for NXT. Combined audience of 2,300,000, so roughly the same as an episode of RAW.

Half a million however also watched the AEW replay.

I’ve always liked Schiavone, he worked with WWF very briefly too but Vince allegedly let him go for sounding too Southern.

Currently watching Wednesday’s NXT. Two great matches so far, and the return of Finn Balor. Great atmosphere but Christ the arena is dark. What with the black ring canvas as well it’s like watching that nWo Souled Out show from 97.

And just as I’m writing this, Hall and Nash have literally turned up in the crowd.

I had no idea Schiavone was back for AEW, hearing him on commentary again was a damn nice surprise.

For the first, ooooh, 5 minutes this SD felt like something new. And then it just quickly segued into the same old format. The Rock got the crowd to chant “STD” at King Corbin (“Super Tough Dude”), said he looked like a 35 year old virgin at Comic Con, and Becky Lynch and then Rock beat him up.

The set however is the best WWE has had in a very long time for either RAW or SmackDown. Has a bit of a cyber theme. Still loads of LED though obviously.

The VR graphics are out in force too.

Cain Velasquez I'm not sure is going to get over. I know it's not about body type so much anymore, but to me he looked like gooseberry fool, especially compared to Brock who looks really in shape again. I guess it highly depends on what sort of match they have.

I think I was like some of the crowd - I had no idea who he was. I was like ‘Wow, Rey’s son sure aged quick’.

It's weird going from watching AEW that had a thought out show to introduce it's big players to a new audience to watching Smackdown that started with a raw champion, had it's biggest stars be people that won't be there next week and ended by referencing a UFC feud from 10 years ago.

Looks like I was rather too optimistic about Lesnar and Kingston going 2 minutes, it went about 8 seconds.

It was blatantly obvious Lesnar was going to get the Smackdown title ever since the Fox deal was announced, but that complete burial was so WWE.

AEW are doing a youtube show called AEW Dark that shows all their dark matches from dynamite tapings. Hosted by Tony.

The WCW Bonus Match is going to be out in force on HIAC tonight. They’ve only announced 4 matches for this thing.

Crazy that the weakest, least important show of the week is a Pay Per View, even though I can’t imagine many people are actually ordering this on PPV...

So how are they getting around having The Fiend lose and still keep momentum?
