Apart from the crowd continually messing up the audio (they kept chanting "strawberry float"), last night's AEW Dynamite was great. From a visual perspective, it was the most WCW-esque show they've done yet. Even the ring was the old size. And of course someone ended up in the swimming pool...
Only thing I would have changed is if they started the show off with the sun setting, because while it was immediately apparent they were outdoors, you wouldn't have necessarily known they were on a ship until the second hour. WCW would have 100% also blown the budget hiring out a helicopter.
I have this vague recollection in the back of my mind that Eric Bischoff once said it used to cost WCW around $200,000 to use the helicopter. I don't know if that was for the one specifically they had Sting jump out of or just a general figure. It was extremely expensive though, I know that.
On the Fite feed they did film outside of the boat, but it looked like they were possibly using a drone.
I would have thought a big part of ITV teaming with AEW would have been PPV revenue. Wouldn't be surprised if they end up cancelling Dynamite. Could we see odd situation of Sky making a move?

I'm guessing ITV was unable to compete with Sky and BT Box Office, nor could they secure many big time boxing events. Technical issues continually plagued them as well (for example those who had ordered a prior AEW PPV on PlayStation 4 found themselves unable to watch at all). It's possible the majority of purchases were happening via Fite anyway, but some people do like ordering through Sky and Virgin Media as it negates broadband issues.
AEW still airs on ITV4 and they've reintroduced Monday nights on ITV1 again (in highlighted form). I think combined it hovers around the 500,000 viewer mark, which ain't bad considering how late they air it. No idea how it does on the ITV Hub. Theoretically AEW is on the best possible station in the UK, but in reality ITV have been a disappointment. Advertising for the PPVs has been extremely good, but Dynamite never gets uploaded on the ITV Hub on time, the picture quality on ITV4 is now really awful (they like a lot of Freeview channels aren't even operating at what you'd call high quality standard definition), and Dynamite gets bumped around even when there aren't Live commitments like darts or snooker. Tonight it doesn't start until 11:40pm because they'd rather show Van Helsing (which itself has been split by Entertainment News at 10) so it needlessly ends up going head-to-head with SmackDown on BT.
I'm hoping when AEW relaunch Dark later in the year it's included in the AEW+ pass on Fite.
Means a very minor price increase for UK fans as Revolution is listed at $19.99 (currently around £15.30) on Fite.
You should see the referee on NXT this week during the BroserWeights vs. Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner match! He’s usually comically orange at the best of times but this week was a whole different league. Literally Dark Oak Ronseal.
Never expected the voice of Winston Churchill to kick off a WWE PPV...and the first thing you see is Imperium. Add in the theme music of ‘the mad Russian’, and there’s weird World War 2 undertones to this show already.
The theme song for the show is also by a band called “Wage War” so they’ve really gone all in on the war front.
Mat Riddle is growing on me. The exchanges between the BroserWeights and Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner these last few episodes have been hilarious.
Four apparent spoilers for tonight in terms of surprise entrants:
Women’s
Victoria Ronda Rousey Molly Holly
Men’s
MVP They’ve done a really poor job hyping up and promoting the women’s Rumble match this year. Since Flair said she was entering, they’ve basically done nothing.
Brutal cut to the back of Beth Phoenix’s head in the Rumble. Looks like she cracked her head against the corner of the LED ring post while on the top rope.
Charlotte Flair winning the match though. Zzzzzz.
No Sasha Banks, which is strange. Both Victoria and Ronda Rousey ultimately proving to be false rumours, though Victoria is apparently there in the building.

Fantastic to see him back. He really is great at creative booking, I love hearing his ideas.
How good was that Edge pop though? I was out of wrestling for Ruthless Aggression but Edge's expression got me. I really hope he can have some great matches with some of the newer talent. I'd love to see him vs Andrade.

It was so good, the look on his face was something else. I've now watched this clip many times
My one minor complaint is that edge went back to his long hair. I think he looked great with his short hair when I’ve seen him over the last few years.
