The Undertaker also donated $1,000 to Trump’s campaign in September.

Explains why Jericho had Trump’s son on his podcast, at least.

Jericho's gone full MAGA on Twitter, liking and retweeting Trump tweets about voter fraud in Michigan and whatnot. It's always a shame to see your childhood heroes become villains, I suppose I'd better start looking at changing my username permanently.

He also donated £2,500 to Wrestling Obsever's sporadic host Jim Valley's medical bills and paid off Kamala's house when it was about to be repossessed and also paid 5k towards his funeral expenses.

A full list of Jericho's other donations:

– $5,000 to help cover the funeral expenses for Balls Mahoney
– $2,500 towards the fundraiser set up by Tyler Breeze and Kevin Owens for the victims of the Alberta forest fires
– $3,000 towards Rico Constantino’s medical bills
– $2,500 towards Rex King’s funeral costs
– $2,500 to help with Jerry Lynn pay for several medical procedures
– $2,000 towards the Buffalo Brothers Car Accident Recovery Fund
– $500 to help a sick cat named Jax
– $2,000 to help with former Smoky Mountain Ring announcer Tommy Noe’s medical costs
– $2,500 to help friend Alexandria Finley beat cancer
– $300 (out of the $300 goal) to help get boots for wrestler Black Dragon (Bret Komo)
– $5,000 to help save Kamala’s house

What's any of that got to do with the price of bacon? Many Republicans donate to charitable causes, but their politics and the way in which they engage with the politics of others are utterly reprehensible. In Jericho's case his outright dangerous promotion of unfounded conspiracy theories to 3.6 million people and his refusal to engage with his critics like in this absolute disaster. It's lovely that a few-times-over millionaire shoved in a few grand here and there to help with less fortunate friends' or colleagues' difficulties. It doesn't excuse the promotion of racism, xenophobia and dangerous separatism to millions of people.

If you find a 1 thousand dollar donation to trump enough to completely disassociate yourself from Jericho, that's your choice and I'm not going to change it.

Be interesting to see people turn on cody when he starts his republican run for senate.

≈$30,000 worth of charitable donations is worth pointing out but $3,000 worth of donations to the Trump campaign isn't?

Besides, the argument being made is about the far-right posts and dangerous ideas he's promoting to his audience. Why ignore that part when it's clear that's what's bothering someone who has used Jericho's nickname as an online moniker for years?

As I said in my previous post, it's clear his mind is made up so no need for any further discussion on the matter :)

You don't seem to have picked up on what I was saying there so I'll clarify before we finish up. Jericho's behaviour in the past year or two has become increasingly problematic, his dealings with fans and Democrats(and Democratic fans!) who criticise his behaviour are aggressive and ignorant(he told someone to strawberry float off for questioning his politics the other week, for example). His promotion of unfounded conspiracy theories to the millions of people who follow him is the straw that's broken this camel's back, not the RNC donations - the $3000 donation was just an example of his politics.

He also keeps maintaining that he isn't political and doesn't want to get involved in politics, which is duplicitous at best when he both donates his money to political parties and continues to retweet the president's political statements and comment on political matters like the calling of the election. That is not the kind of person I can be a fan of anymore, which is unfortunate as I continue to love the guy's work and he's still one of the best promo men working in the industry (if not one of the best of all time).

STEALTH EDIT: I'd also like to point out that I'm not necessarily against the Republican Party as an institution in this case - I certainly don't agree with their politics and I find the party's recent behaviour reprehensible but I'd never write a celebrity off for being a member of a particular party or supporting a particular wing(right or left). The problem is the explicit allegiance that's been shown to a particularly nasty style of politics, and a Trumpian crusade to pervert the course of the election that can only cause harm to American society going forward. Anyone promoting that demonstrably false line of thinking, for me, is part of the problem.

captain red dog wrote:Aren't the Young Bucks also quite heavily Republican?

I can't comment on them specifically as I don't know much about them. Given the demographics being catered for, the internal politics of both WWE and AEW, and the origins of a decent potion of US-based wrestlers, I'd imagine quite a significant proportion of the roster are pretty heavily Republican leaning. The McMahons have also come out in support of Trump's election nonsense-logic, and I know Undertaker quietly donated to his campaign as well. Obviously Kane is a member of the Republican Party - he's the Republican mayor of Knoxville and has criticised Democrat attempts to impeach Trump as being "divisive." The Kliq are big Trump men, or were in 2016. Shawn Michaels has been quiet during the Trump era but endorsed Mitt Romney during his presidential run.

Obviously this goes both ways especially with the older guys - The Rock is a big Democrat and Steve Austin shies well away from political statements, though the few he does make seem to hint at a much more Democratic outlook on things(Austin, it should be noted, is wildly problematic in his own way, having been arrested for domestic abuse at the turn of the century). Jesse Ventura seems to have gone down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole in recent years, but has stayed the hell away from Trump and in his political career tended to lean Democrat and endorsed John Kerry in 2004. Mick Foley's son donated to the Biden campaign and Foley himself has been vocally anti-Trump.

Most of the younger guys have learned from the Jaxson Ryker thing to stay the hell away from political statements.

I did understand but thank you for further clarifying your reasons.

To clarify where I was coming from, I simply listed all of his other donations but from your post i understand his trump donations outweigh all of that.

Jericho is a strawberry floating nonce. He played the Sturgiss covid super spreader rally, continually entertains and promotes nutball conspiracy theories and has many problematic guests on his podcast.

I am beginning to get a bit worried about AEW, some of the stuff they've been putting out recently really has just been bad WWE, and it's not getting any better. I was watching the Matt Hardy match at Full Gear and there's Private Party standing beside the ring (which was set up beside Hardy's house) watching their friends get beaten up by Inner Circle. As I'm wondering why they hadn't jumped in the ring yet, a pre-tape aired of them finding their way through the woods. After, Private Party hit their cue and then jumped in to make the save. Also in the match, Shane Helms and The Hurricane (a WWE creation) appeared and then reappeared from a lake, and Inner Circle vanished into thin air having been locked out from a shed with a shutter...which, as it was revealed later, had an easily accessible door right next to it they could have easily gone through instead. It's WWE wackiness without all the sophisticated editing and production values. See also the dentist match from the prior PPV, which was filmed so poorly I'm amazed they thought it was in any way an acceptable start to a PPV.

Meanwhile every segment Chris Jericho is now in with MJF is comedy (this week they're all off to Las Vegas for another skit), and they've somehow managed to do even less with Rusev than WWE did (he's 'the best man' for an as yet unannounced upcoming wedding, while in the meantime currently feuding over a damaged videogame arcade cabinet).

He can offset that by paying for any deceased's medical bills.

I agree with all of that. I thought the. MJF/Jericho/Vegas thing was like really bad WWE comedy that just makes you cringe.

They seem so far away now from where they were at the start. Jericho was really hot as an actual heel, MJF was largely protected from stupidity, Hangman was still quite hot and everyone was waiting for Omega to hit the main event scene.

Now almost everyone seems pretty cold, and they've taken MJF from being the best heel in the business to a really crap comedy act.

It’s been well over a year, maybe close to two, curious if NXT have a show on the night before. Is that still a thing?

They've moved them to Sunday nights. NXT TAKEOVER: WARGAMES is Sunday, 6th December.

Ah! Sunday’s are much easier for me. I felt like it was War Games that was usually around SS, but wasn’t sure.

Wouldn't surprise me at all about the rest but Kevin Nash is very outspoken against Trump and openly supports BLM and LGBTQ causes as far as I'm aware. Like, I get being liberal by America's standards means almost nothing but at least he doesn't seem to be a total wank.

This Kevin Nash?

(I must point out that I took that image off a Twitter post of Nash spitting and swearing about not voting for Trump, and not understanding why people thought he did after seeing this image. Apparently he's been a Democrat all his life!)

I thought Thunder Rosa vs Serena Deeb was the best match on Dynamite this week.

New Day have been added to Gears 5. Apparently they are wrestlers. Are they any good?

Watching AEW on ITV4 currently and I swear every episode features a reference to Dave Meltzer and/or the Wrestling Observer! The other week he was referenced at least 4 times, which really was a bit odd.

mcjihge2 wrote:New Day have been added to Gears 5. Apparently they are wrestlers. Are they any good?

Yes, though their childish shtick on TV (mostly revolving around gyrating, wearing garish coloured attire, and throwing pancakes and cereal into the crowd) has become most irritating. WWE has just recently partially broken them up though, with one of them (Big E) going back to being a singles wrestler. He was great on their NXT brand when he first started out many years ago.

I’m not liking post Taker WWE.

I loved the doc on WWE Network even if it did ruin the mystique and character heck I know he’s a real guy.

But after never doing all these opportunities while under contract I get what he’s doing and making a lot of money in the process with all the interviews, cameos .. etc but it’s dwindling the memory of what he was in my view.
