Looks like they’re going to run with Kenny Omega and Don Callis being useless builders for storyline purposes, and maybe just ignore the commentary reaction. Maybe Kingston will have PTSD!

I don’t see how they could have practised the pyro in rehearsal (like WWE does) and not realise it looked awful. Perhaps they got the camera angles wrong (though it presumably would have still looked gooseberry fool to the Live crowd). The reactions from Eddie Kingston - who was still selling the damn thing in the background when Moxley was shitting on it to the live crowd off-air - and the commentary team means it wasn’t by original design to look like it was a joke explosion.

Apparently Kenny Omega was absolutely furious after the PPV.

Something obviously went wrong, so not sure why Tony Khan is saying that it was all planned.

Thinking about it like they could have done it so many other safer ways. Have a proper explosive firework go off behind the ring on the ramp, have a smoke bomb or something go off in the ring so it fills with smoke and then have the ring collapse.

Or even the old fashioned fire ball to the face.

Just decided to watch SmackDown tonight for the first time in a few weeks because of the cage match and what the hell have they done to Apollo Crews?! First he comes out carrying a spear and flanked by two apparent paramilitary guards dressed in army garb, and then he starts speaking in a faux Nigerian accent. I’m sure Vince finds this all hilarious.

The show then continues its decent into 2003 Bischoff era RAW territory as they’ve now seemingly turned Bayley into a chat show host spoof with something called “Ding Dong, Hello!” accompanied by jaunty music and fake wooden door in the ring. She’s now also dressed up like a 40 year old Mum, with glasses and terrible haircut, intentionally ageing her at least 10 years.

I don't know what AEW are doing but Dynamite didn't really help the botch at Revolution. Kenny Omega asking Don to "69" him was almost as bad as HHH and Katie Vick.

Whilst I won't go Jim Cornette on Kenny Omega, I do think there is some slight truth in that he sometimes makes wrestling look an absolute joke. Particularly when he does stuff like that in an angle with serious guys like Mox or Kingston.

Have to say I've been pretty disappointed with AEW recently, just feels like all the things they were doing right a year ago have been forgotten about and they've stayed too much into Vince's style of story telling and actions. I even lost interest in the MJF/Jericho feud as they just took too long and the pay off last night just felt a bit flat because of it. On the flipside you then had NXT rush the break of the Undisputed Era so they have a feud for their two night takeover.

Tony Khan walking out on the debut edition of Dark Elevation half reminded me of Vince Russo in WCW.

Anyone noticed how he’s gradually been becoming more prolific on TV in recent weeks, what with this and recurring paid ‘ads’ on IMPACT WRESTLING.

When put back into the play-by-play role, Tony Schiavone really is as good as he ever was (as long as he doesn’t get too excited, as his voice then begins to crack). Should have been used as the lead on Dynamite from the very beginning. He was also researched up to the nines on this programme.

Schiavone is great. Its amazing seeing old NWA footage of him as a young man interviewing Flair at his peak. Him and Jr bring a lot of history to AEW.

I've also noticed Khan is becoming more visible. I think he really needs to resist temptation in becoming an on screen character.

Absolutely awesome main event on Dynamite between Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker. It kind of throws up a few problems though, that should be the main women's title feud. The women's title scene has been massively cringe worthy in AEW now for a few months. Rosa and Baker should be headlining that division.

Easily one of the best women's matches for many years. Baker seems really established in the ring now and has to be close to the best female wrestler on the planet. Rosa is not far behind either, and surely NWA will be getting the title back on her soon.

Sorry for the double post, but I've been watching Dark Side of the Ring, about wrestlings most discussed subject, The Montreal Screw Job.

One thing that sticks out, Jim Cornette says it was his idea, as if Bret was in the Sharpshooter and the bell was rung, nobody would know what had happened unless Bret exposed the business.

But it was so bloody obvious on the TV what happened, that Cornette's explanation seems implausible.

Just finished watching the Lights Out main event on Dynamite. It delivered more than the Exploding Barbed Wire match did at their bloomin’ PPV, which you could argue is where it should have been. Would have been amazing in front of a live crowd. AEW’s equivalent for the women of Bayley and Banks from NXT a number of years ago.

It was really good.

Britt looked a star coming out of it. So many good shots of her looking deranged with blood pouring down her face.

It was easily one of the best main events in Dynamite history.

Agree with both you, it was a cracking match. When they got out the tacks I actually made this face

The Orton vs Magic match at Fastlane :dread:

The end:

Does this mean that the Fiend is going to stay burnt or are they going to use their "magic" to restore him? Ah, good old WWE.

Also looked liked they botched the Apollo/Big E ending but I'd need to watch it again. Apollo appeared to get the pin but they just ignored it.

10 year olds would be embarrassed to admit watching that Orton/Bliss 'match'.

I'm positive Orton's capsule filled with food colouring popped out of his mouth as well, thus he barely had any to burst.

I hope the 2 people still ordering these shows on PPV didn't do so for the McMahon and Strowman match that didn't take place.

Impact has finished on UK TV, only option is to watch via Impact Plus now. I presume the 5Star deal was not renewed (it’s been moving further back in the schedules). Finished on Free Sports too after just four months — wonder if this was a taster for them, but they turned it down/couldn’t afford it.

When I try to cast from the Impact Plus app, it works but then goes off when the device switched off. But seem to be able to cast from the browser okay.

I thought they were supposed to be putting full episodes on YouTube for the UK market?

They did originally suggest that, but they’ve posted on social since to say they’ll exclusively be on Impact Plus, with no mention of YouTube.
