Thing is, there is something to be said for a long, storied feud between two wrestlers that envelops several PPVs. As long as they compel people to stay interested in the two wrestlers involved and keep it fresh.

I think they have kept it relatively fresh. Everything about their feud has been fine... except the finishes of the PPV matches. Which is quite a big deal of course.

Smackdown ratings were up with Christian as champ as well which makes the whole thing even stupider :fp:

I didn't notice this watching it Live, but were the crowd chanting "boring" in the Bryan/Barrett match? Obviously doesn't help that every time he's on TV the commentators, particularly Cole, are either mocking him or simply going off on a massive tangent. SmackDown this week was something else...even if it was all rather amusing.

I doubt anyone seriously takes on board what Cole says. Which is great when he's spouting bollocks most of them time but he is meant to be the lead commentator of the entire brand. Anyway I thought the crowd were loving the match last night, it says a lot that both men came out looking good.

Well, how's this for a coincidental story:

Wrestling Observer wrote:Funny story involving Daniel Bryan & Pat Patterson. Patterson went up to Bryan and asked him something – basically thinking that he was genuinely some sort of computer nerd - & Bryan had to explain that it’s simply the character they portray him as on television, & that he isn’t actually a nerd.

There are those within the WWE, and this was also mentioned in a recent interview with Bryan himself, that think he is actually some sort of computer nerd because it’s constantly brought up on TV.

Yes, because ageing wrestlers are always on the ball and usually pretty down to Earth :P

Reminds of those stories about WCW, where those in CNN & Turner actually thought Eric Bischoff was a stark raving lunatic because it's what he came across as on TV.

So will Punk and Cena be shoe-horned into the match on RAW tonight. Also, don't both participants have o be on their feet for the match to start? It wasn't very sporting for the ref to call for the bell while Punk was on his knees.

MITB can be cashed in at any time, so technically it counts I guess. It must have happened before at some stage. When Edge beat Taker maybe?

WWE.com, Joey Styles wrote:LOS ANGELES - Heading into SummerSlam, there was one question on the minds of every member of the WWE Universe: “Who will be the Undisputed WWE Champion after SummerSlam: CM Punk or John Cena?” Audible dueling chants of “Let’s Go Cena!” and “CM Punk” heard worldwide on Monday Night Raw and WWE.com polls showed WWE fans split almost evenly between the pride of West Newbury, Mass. and The Second City Savior. Either way, history was going to be made at SummerSlam.

However, an unforeseen series of events have etched neither the name “CM Punk” or “John Cena” into history as the current Undisputed WWE Champion. That honor now belongs to The Mexican Aristocrat, Alberto Del Rio.

Like their previous in-ring meetings, Sunday’s main event saw Cena and Punk share not only the support of the WWE Universe at the sold-out STAPLES Center in Los Angeles throughout the match, but also the offensive advantage. Triple H’s three-count that cost John Cena the Undisputed WWE Championship was obviously erroneous due to Cena’s foot being on the bottom rope ... but was it intentionally so? This question alone marks a mystery, though it is only the first in a series of queries.

Even though a few @WWE Twitter followers predicted that Alberto Del Rio would cash in his Raw Money in the Bank contract, no one could have guessed that former WWE Champion Kevin Nash would play a part in altering WWE history. The question is, why did Nash attack newly crowned Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk? Did Nash know that Alberto Del Rio would cash in his Money in the Bank contract and pick the bones left behind to claim the gold? If Nash did know of Del Rio’s opportunistic intentions, why would he want to help The Mexican Aristocrat fulfill his self-professed destiny? The first answer that comes to mind is money, but Alberto Del Rio has lots of it, and after a 20-year legendary career of his own, Nash probably doesn’t need the cash.

So if greed wasn’t Nash’s motive, did WWE COO Triple H give his longtime “Kliq” running buddy this opportunity to shock the world and re-enter the limelight by costing Punk the title on a globally televised stage? After all the insults hurled the way of him and his wife, Stephanie McMahon, by the Straight Edge Superstar, Triple H probably won’t be losing any sleep tonight over the arguable injustice that Punk suffered. And even though the look of shock and disbelief on his face would indicate Triple H had no knowledge of either Kevin Nash’s or Alberto Del Rio’s actions, The Game’s Hall of Fame career proves he can be dangerously duplicitous.

Speaking of WWE Executive Vice President of Operations, Stephanie McMahon, why was the wife of WWE’s new Chief Operating Officer at SummerSlam to begin with? Despite her well wishes to CM Punk early in the evening, (PHOTOS) was Stephanie at SummerSlam hoping to watch Punk lose the most important match of his career, or did she go even further and orchestrate Punk’s loss? Was that what Stephanie and her husband were speaking about moments before the main event? Is this the rebirth of the McMahon-Helmsley Era in the very same city where their marriage was shockingly revealed? Was this a bad night for COO Triple H, or did Sunday evening’s events play out in the ring exactly as they had in The Game’s mind before SummerSlam?

We may never have definitive answers to all of the questions surrounding Alberto Del Rio leaving SummerSlam as the Undisputed WWE Champion, yet one fact is indisputable: this was the most contentious SummerSlam in WWE history.

That write up reminds me of the stuff that used to appear all the time in WWF Magazine. Still, some interesting possibilities there on where this could go.

HHH is bad at acting dumb  i think he screwed both Cena and Punk out of the title. Cena for constantly questioning EVERY decision that he makes and Punk because....well with the stuff he's been saying he was bound to get some comeuppance. As much as he'd love to...rather than deal with Punk himself, HHH got his buddy Nash to deal with him. So i'm going to say Nash is HHH's personal enforcer. Big question is whether this is the start of a HHH heel turn if HHH comes out and confesses he was behind the whole thing tonight.

That said i think we'll see a triple threat match at the next PPV. Punk may win the belt back from Del Rio or Rey at NoC....while Cena's feud with the Rock will start to pick up again

I was a little disappointed with the crowd in the D. Bryan/Barrett match. I though they did a very very good job. Really enjoyed that match. It was the sort of level of match that i've been waiting to see from Barrett and a huge amount of credit has to go to Bryan as well.

I think Del Rio will remain champion until Survivor Series, where Cena will win it back with help from...The Rock, seeing as he's all but confirmed for that event. The reason being Rock wants Cena to keep the belt until 'Mania so that he can win it off him.

Same disputed finish we saw 2 months ago
Return of Sexy Hair Kevin Nash
Money in the Bank cash-in

That really is more TNA than TNA has ever been. TNA has never overbooked a main event like that.

The 1 thing I was hoping for with this whole Undisputed champion thing (which is stupid anyway 'cos theres a world champ aswel) was that they'd have a new belt made for it after.I was pretty sure it was gonna happen if punk won 'cos he made a remark about it how lame it is a few weeks back, but now that Del Rio is champ I doubt theyll change it.
