Appropriate user name.

I write quite a lot, and I've just been commissioned to write a short story for a collection that's going to act as a spiritual successor to the Scary Tales to Tell in the Dark series.

Really excited! :D

That sounds very cool Skarjo!

I've only read the opening and first chapter, but this is surprisingly tragic

I like what you did with this bit for the comedy value:

That’s the thing. Waluigi has a very distinctive appearance (he’d say ‘striking’). He is stick thin (‘slender’), and taller than any other human he’s met. His nose is bright pink and hooked (‘aquiline’). His moustache refuses to be combed (‘powerful’), and bends up in L shapes. You could cut yourself on his ears (‘elfin’), or his chin (‘strong masculine jawline’).

I just read this one, you shouldn't be hard on yourself! While the grammar isn't always perfect it's an imaginative world and I liked the general plot points - especially with Lord Morris and the twist that he is the villain. The story seemed consistent and well set up from the beginning, so it all tied together nicely.

This thread is open to anyone, regardless of how good they think their writing is, and hopefully people will enjoy both sharing and reading what others have shared. As long as you enjoy writing then that's the main thing!

I feel I probably shouldn't: I may not be the crazy pedant I was when I was 16, but I just know I'd get hung up on the grammar and not be able to concentrate on the writing and plot. Sorry Mr. Guy. :(

I'm glad someone liked it! It's mostly going for humour, but Waluigi is a tragic character, as his brigade of Smash enthusiasts can tell you...

Upon the grey scale sky sat the foreign myopia among the disembodied clouds. A range of grey ideas sweeped across the horizon as M. Carter faltered in his steps across the misted vapor. From the murk came clawing beaks and off world tentacles but Carter kept his composure and agily ducked and weaved betweem the abominations lying in the field of fog. Days, maybe nights, passed of his struggle but Carter could not fathom whether he was further from his impending doom or if the vile creatures of some unknown hell were on his heels at the entrance to the meandering labrynth which he now found himself entering. A left and a right, and another right. Carter followed his instinct in the darkended depths of the hell he currently found himself in. What little faith remained in his heart did little to ease his apprehensions. Carter ran into the darkened corridors of the hellish temple with little regard for the conseqences except to find a way out of this entrapment. But high from above, came the high pitched screech of a winged beast. It's form, obscured by the shadows birthed by the natural hewn rock, surprised the minions following behind as one by one they were swept away by the wet and dripping slaves of Utonooneth.

Yes, I'm chatting bare gooseberry fool. I'm tippo.

A keyboard. Musical or textual, it serves the same purpose. Portraying a feeling. This is not music, this is a rambling. Of thoughts tapped into lettered keys. Fingers rapping without concern or real thought. What comes next is a mystery but an insight, nonetheless. What thoughts dwell inside the authour, what secrets are buried deep? The words, an assault on their victim. His fingers type, unmoderated and raw but what can become of his physical self? The tyrade of words and meaning fall upon him and his mind can take little more. Does he stay to attempy comprehension or does he succumb to the void and lose himself inside the abyss.

His choice did not matter.

He is human.

(I'm literally just typing whatever comes to my mind after a couple of Henner Westys. You can see some shaven nuts in my text or just hairy bags as expected.

A man, he did not see. But a woman, before him, did stand. Hair of blazing red and lips full of lust, the forbidden temptation rose within him. Denied was the longing and the fantasy was banished. But a fluttering remained in his heart and he felt that he was being punished. An unobtainable desire, longing within the heterosexual liar, queens filling his core with forbidden cravings, his situation becoming dire.

Determined, he found the beauty within. Makeup, paint and cosmetics proved naught against his personality. A free spirit he was, for he saw the grace in all vitality.

(I'm just playing up to my character now)

The tiring voyage to find a like minded individual bore down on the traveller of strange worlds. At one moment he found himself amongst foreign canyons in great abundance. And the next, he would find himself amongst familiar friends, only for them to disappear from the planes almost as quickly as they had appeared. And finding himself alone, he rowed the oars of his small vessel with the desperation of finding some fertile land. Alas, he was met with severe disappointment as his canoe grounded itself upon a baron rock of granite, protruding from the sea depths. From this point, no other landmarks could be recognised and the empty expanse began to bare too much on his mind.

So far up to this point, his psyche had proved surprisingly stable. But he quickly and assuredly found that the vast vacuum, which he now found himself a prisoner of, had begun to corrode his thoughts and drag him into a situation of actions driven by pure instinct.

A hopeless blackness fell upon his senses. No smell, no sight, no touch. All that remained was a taste of acrid copper and the sound of depressing nothingness. Where had he found himself? Deprived of his natural senses, the gentleman groped for answers. His calloused hands dragged the floor and his immediate surroundings, only to grasp at nothing. A cage. A cell. Where had he found himself, he could not be sure.

An uncomfortable dread crept over his loins and a demon sucked him off so fast that he came almost immediately.

I recently got a DS emulator, as I'd been craving to replay a certain game. So after that playthrough, I did a write-up about it in a new series I'm calling Moonlit Critbit. The game? Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. It certainly has been fun to replay it, and now I can tank battle to my heart's content.

I'm just rambling some vampire shite, right now. I like it but it's probably dung. I'm just writing things that come to mind, brainstorming feelings and ideas. These ideas may carry over to my Vampire: The Masquerade RPG, or they may not. I'm just experimenting. So, of course, any critical feedback is welcome.

You hold the blade to your own throat and consider for a moment. Is this the right path? You have been given a gift, the gift of immortality. An illusive gift, to a race you were rarely a part of, and since a week ago, will never be a part of again. You think of the potential you have been gifted. To live for centuries. To witness the passing of time. To say, you were there. Can you give that up? All your mortal life, you wanted more. You wanted an escape from the grind. You wanted a change from the monotomy. And it is now your boon. You think for an hour. And another. You can make this work. You drop the knife and take a deep breath, an artifact from your past life. Your pet cat, still nuzzling your thigh, such an innocent creature. She has no idea how close you had come to final death. Cats are loyal creatures. But you scoop her up in your cold, dead hand and allow your fangs to sink deep into her neck. She lets out a shrill cry. Animals are more perceptive to your intent to feed, but she trusted you. Her cry causes you to bite down harder as you feel a piece of your humanity eroding within you. The taste of blood is gratifying, but was it worth it? Your new condition is hard enough to bare without the guilt of your sudden, barbaric act hanging over you. She trusted you. She loved you, in her own, feline way. But you aren't quite satiated. Her litter mate cowers under the bed, instincts knowing. Crimson dripping from your chin, her white fur will soon be sullied and her skin broken.

Anyone doing NaNoWriMo this year? It's the first time I'm going to give it a try. I'm pretty sure I won't hit the word count but...we'll see.
