I like watching Big Pauly some guy who goes around shops buying up loads of Blu Rays and Sandwell mobiles who is some dude who does loads of scratch card videos.

As for gaming I like Digital Foundry, Scott the Woz and Did you know gaming.

Nerd City is a fantastic channel. They do well-researched take-downs on other Youtubers which are fascinating and hilarious, and the production values are staggeringly high. Their video on Jake Paul is possibly the best, but they also did one on this family who were physically and emotionally abusive to their kids for hits.




Internet Historian is another brilliant channel. Watch all his videos, please.

Sheet Music Boss has a new video every day showing various songs and themes played on a digital keyboard. They all sound great, and there's even some originals that go up on there.

Call Me Kevin might seem the usual fare of video game personality, but he's a sweet Irish guy who loves to play games [mostly intentionally] badly. He sometimes does other stuff, like singing Take Me Home, Country Roads, and more recently trying to paint a picture of his Sims character.

FailRace is a racing fan who plays racing games. He's probably most notable for his Survive the Hunt series, which sees him trying to survive a full in-game day in GTA V being hunted by a group of others.

May as well add my own channel to the list of GR channels. DarkRula sees uploads of gaming related content based mostly on highlights of games I've been playing, such as my just recently published video on Star Wars Battlefront EA 2. Those of the Mario Kart Monday thread will probably remember the two videos I put together showing off the highlights of the stated events, but I like showing off routes I've made in racing games such as GTA V, usually with some accompanying music from some other game.

Can't believe I forgot to mention A.I.Games

I like Kizuna Ai but I heard they basically treat the actress like a slave and are now trying to replace her entirely. Since then I haven't wanted to watch it, makes me feel bad.

My top recommendations:

History Buffs - Absolutely fascinating set of what are, technically, film reviews. These reviews contain a segment about the time period of the film in question, a discussion as to the historical accuracy of the films, and a few other bits. Really worth a watch and every educational. He really comes in off his long run on the Patriot. There are a lot of them, anyway.

On a similar historical theme, Lindybeige is absolutely fantastic. The guy is obviously a complete history geek (last time I checked, he was assembling his own suit of armour). I love him. Around ten years worth of videos.

All the standard left tube stuff that's been mentioned already, (although I don't really watch much of Lindsay Ellis' stuff, as most of her videos are on films I either not seen, or just plain don't care about,) but I'm surprised there's been no mention of Philosophy Tube yet:



Really interesting, high production value videos, with a lot of character work, mainly around various political themes, with analysis informed by philosophical theory. The channel has changed a lot over the years, and I'd still recommend his older, education based videos on different philosophers and concepts.


One of my most favourite channels is Binging with Babbish

Not only is it a really interesting look at food from film and TV, but he's also branched out into a "Basics" series, that teaches various cooking fundamentals.

Great, because I no longer need to form my own opinions about music any more, I just listen to what the melon tells me.

Fight Tips

The most wholesome MMA and fitness channel on the internet.

Babish is great.

Also like watching Chef John's videos too, love the continuous silly in-jokes (Cayenne in nearly everything he cooks ).



And non food related but equally great

Some of these are well known already, but might be new to a few people...

Abroad in Japan - Very British man who does 'look at me living my dream in Japan' videos in an actually unique way.


Bald and Bankrupt - If you can get past the occasional abrasive ladishness, probably the most interesting travel channel out there, mainly due to the guys absolute no fear approach.


Captain Disillusion - Amazingly produced visual effects/editing videos.


Funhaus - Gaming channel run by the former Inside Gaming team (Bruce is gone now though )


Geography Now - Very cringy YouTuber at times, but this channel is going through every country on earth and producing a video on each.


TLDR News - Very easy to digest UK based news channel.


Tom Scott - Quick and engaging science/tech/interest channel.


World Order - Bit of a cheat to suggest a musical act, but their videos are the unique selling point.


Zeltik - Zelda (mainly BoTW) theory videos with an insane level of research and clean production.

The narrator has a pleasant voice and, if this matters to you, I would say the channel owner is on the right side of history/current politics:

Is there a way to switch back to the old YouTube player from a month or so ago. I strawberry floating hate the new one. I honestly can’t remember the last time Google made a UI change to a service of there’s that wasn’t awful.
