My aversion to Sharepoint is largely just that the implementations I've been exposed to never seem to work properly.

The number of times I get error messages about being unable to check something in or out is insane. There are days when most of my time is spent fighting Sharepoint!

The errors always basically amount to saying: "Something went wrong LOL!" which doesn't help!

strawberry floating scalpers. I set up alerts for a few things on stock informer so discord would ping when they came into stock- a few graphics cards, Series Xs, PS5, etc. Not to buy all of them, mind you, just to see what became available first.

Just now, phone already in hand, the alert pinged for new PS5 stock on Amazon. In the three seconds from the ping to clicking add to basket, they were already gone.

The trouble is that there are so many links in the chain for these "stock notification" services that it's hard to know just how late you as an individual got the notification compared to anyone else.

The way they get the information from the sellers will introduce some lag, they might be receiving notifications directly from the seller which will have its own delay, they may be scraping the website on intervals which will also not be immediate. Then you have the way they process that information internally, update their own database, identify who is registered for alerts on that item, and generate and send out the alerts. You then still have to factor in the network environment that brings the notification to you individually as well as the device you receive it on, all of which can again introduce lag.

By the time you actually get the notification it can have been several minutes on from when the seller actually updated their stock status.

That's a good point, actually. Yesterday I had the Chrome notifications turned on for the 3070 as well as the discord ones, and the Chrome one came through a good 30 seconds before the discord one.

Basically, what Jenny is saying is, you need to employ someone to write a script that cuts out most of these links in the chain.
