I never answer an unknown number. If it's important, they can leave a message. If they don't, I block the number.

I even do that on my business line because if someone can't even fulfil a basic request "please leave a message" what's the strawberry floating point of working with someone like that. The spam numbers just hang up. I call the customers back.

My life in the past 7 days:

Day 1 (Friday) served section 21 notice to quit, so essentially lose my house
Day 2 feel queezy and rough besides the obvious stress of having to move
Day 3 start violently vomiting and shitting black (probably pepto bismal but still strawberry floating gross) with headaches, feels like my head is being split in half, can't walk or move properly,
Day 4 in bed all day, constantly dehydrated, it's gastric flu. Call NHS 111, gp calls back at 3.30am waking us up to concur. 4:30am wake up drenched in sweat from blast of humidity when it finally rains. Basically no sleep.
Day 5 have to drag myself into the city despite being ill to view a place.
Day 6 emailing back and forth trying to sell us as tenants to agents. We are rejected in favour of some other strawberry floating perfect tenants
Day 7 go to the pub to catch a break, have one drink after not being able to drink alcohol or caffeine for a week. Have a slight cough presumably because of being so strawberry floating ill for several days. Just to be careful take lateral flow covid test. It's positive

So I've been evicted from my home of 3 years (after being forced to leave the previous place after also 3 years because property owner died and their kids sold it to resolve probate and because MONEY). I've then somehow contracted norovirus, despite almost never getting ill from virus. And then from daring to venture into the outside world, putting on my strongest possible front to get a new house, some strawberry floating banana split out there in Brighton gives me covid. Despite having been vaccinated twice. What, the strawberry float.

Now we have to self isolate for 10 days which means we can't view any houses to move into.

strawberry float. Everything. :x

Have you provided your local authority with your notice to quit? Maybe a chance to get yourself on the housing list for a more permanent abode.

Of the 500 Council properties in this area an average of 150 become available per year and at the moment there are none. To be treated as a priority you generally need to have kids as well as being at risk of homelessness. The waiting list is thousands of people long. It isn't going to happen however long we are on that list.

Also I don't really want to live in one, I accept that if I'm poor/disabled I don't have any say in that however. My partner definitely not. She's on 24k and deserves better. Can I run a fabrication and print business in a one bed studio flat shared with my partner? No.

Also, covid is gooseberry fool in case anyone was wondering.

We just have to keep looking. We do have 4 months notice owing to the increase ot notice put into force by the covid measures.

Well, that's more than a bit annoying. What a run of bad luck.

I guess, you have time. Take the 10 days to get well and accept there's not much else you can do in the meantime.

Towards the end of it, try and set some viewings up for after, maybe.

Yeah my partner is hopeful we can sort out some kind of video call virtual viewing thing. The agents haven't been picking up and contact. Hopefully Monday but I might be paying for somewhere I've never even visited :(

Thanks man. I'm just taking it a day at a time.

This is definitely worse than a cold but at least I'm already used to being dreadfully viral loaded lol.

Hope you get well soon Gecko, sounds like you've had a pretty rough time.

On a separate note meanwhile, banks! :fp: (or at least trying to contact them)

My current PC seems to be on it's last legs so this morning i tried to buy one from Argos using my debit card. The payment failed and it triggered an automated anti-fraud block on my card because it was a large amount of money for a single transaction (which is what i've since been told). Anyways, went to the bank and spoke to the staff, and they were actually pretty good, they even let me use their phone to call the necessary number. Trouble was, once i was on the phone, i was stuck on hold for an hour! :x

Thankfully it's sorted now, but still, all that hassle from trying and failing to buy a new computer.

In the end, i used a different card at a different store and touch wood, it's all good so far.

Pubs and Restaurants that have turned the majority of their car parks into outdoor seating areas making it nearly impossible to park up :x

It's even harder trying to get back out after a few pints.

Wanting to get a couple of new pieces of memory foam to replace the ones I currently have stuck in various places in my wheelchair (its a lot more practical than a fully moulded solution as my seating position varies throughout the day) but now due to the semi privatization of wheelchair services they no longer have access to any of the offcuts they'd normally just give me for free.

Contacted the company that makes the stuff (as suggested by my Occupational Therapist) and to buy a 45cm2 piece of the kind that I currently use they quoted £250

I know its a fairly specialist product but Jesus tittyfucking christ.

That's completely absurd. Have you considered just shopping around memory foam wholesalers on ebay etc? Can a Seamstress make a nice cover for those bits and velcro etc? I guess the only thing you need to look out for is fire retardancy and it might not last as long, or smell.

I payed perhaps twice that for an entire strawberry floating mattress, not memory foam mind you.

I've got some I bought on Ebay a couple of years ago (at a considerably lower price) that has been fairly useful but it's not memory foam and isn't very durable.

I'll have another look though.

I figure you could cut down a memory foam mattress topper and double or triple that up with a few hold down stitches to achieve what you need rather than just a small part at "strawberry float your low order quantity" prices typically levied by suppliers not used to dealing with individuals (or at least that's what they'll say... And for sure, if thet do any kind of manufacture they'll have thousands of off cuts... They've just found a more profitable way to dispose of them than the needy).

Edit: I actually know and have worked with a really lovely seamstress up in York called Becky (she has crohn's so works for herself) who makes massive bench cushions and similar, she could do the piping or just cover I'm sure. I'm sure she'd love to help.

I've got some offcuts from a mattress topper (we cut one down to fit an old futon). If you give me measurements and I have suitable bits, you can have them for nothing if you like.

That's awesome ad, wadding up yoga matt could do some practical things too if you need something more dense. Eg, armrest. It's sickening how inflated some of these raw materials can be when they just looking at the customer and the balance sheet and are like, "ah, just adding that to the system and someone operating a guillitone is going to set us back... Hmmm.. Let's see... £200 including strawberry floating insane logistics fee". I once got quoted almost £300 for shipping a sheet of stainless steel presumably because "computer says this"

Argos again. I’m starting to wonder how they’re still in business. There’s 6 items I wanted from them today (a bamboo toilet seat, a toilet brush - HELL, ANY strawberry floating TOILET BRUSH, a green parasol, AA batteries, Brita filters, and a copy of Resident Evil 3). All out of stock/unavailable, both for delivery and collection (at all 11 nearby stores). I mean what kind of outfit they running here.
