Not only do I hate the fact that my weekends which is the only time I really get to relax are being used up, but I hate the fact there's been 2 things I've needed help from my Dad with for over a year and I'm still waiting. Either way I enjoy spending time with my sister so I thought fine, then they added the caveat that they're going to be back at around midnight. Meaning I won't likely get home until about 12:30-1AM when I need to wake up early in the morning. Now I get another call saying rather than them picking me up and going out in the evening they need to go out in the early afternoon now so I'm going to have to essentially use my entire Sunday helping them out because they seem physically incapable of just staying at home for a day. She's 14 already. I get why they don't want her home alone at night but seriously. How about you book things to go and do with your daughter instead of strawberry floating off alone just the two of you all the time.

Also I'm going back to Japan in 2 weeks and want to make sure my house is tidy before I go. This is eating into the time I had to do that which annoys me as well.

Can you bring her to your house and tidy while she has a film or does homework or something?

Sometimes they'll do that but because she has school the next day or if she has something early the next day they'll always make this big deal about how she needs to sleep so it's very rare that I'll get to look after her here. I do prefer looking after her here though, can play loads of different games without having to pack up my consoles and take them with me.

If somebody keeps asking you to do something you don't want to do, but you feel you can't say no, then the obvious solution is to do it badly so they never ask again.

When I was a kid, my mum used to ask me to make her a coffee. Which I did, but made sure it was disgusting so she stopped asking.

So you'll need to be an irresponsible babysitter. Take her clubbing or something and make sure she tells her parents just how many jägerbombs you let her drink, while she smoked 20 cigarettes.

Complete strawberry floating idiots annoy me.

I bought something on vinted, and as a seller you can chose which delivery options you can let buyers chose from. I chose DPD as it was an option, they messaged me after buying saying that DPD was going to be difficult but they'd do it anyway.

A few days pass and no sign of the tracking showing it's been posted. They say it's been posted and even have a pic of the shipping label but somehow the tracking link in vinted hasn't updated so as far as DPD know they don't have it. Today it auto cancelled because of no shipping updates and I get a refund, the seller gets arsey and says they've reported me.

The only thing I have done is click buy on a thing, I am not telepathic to know they have shipping options they don't want to people to use nor am I responsible for whatever dumb way they bought postage in a process nobody else has a problem with.

Of course even if it does arrive I probably can't collect it as I won't have the barcode the post office needs to scan because there is no tracking link anymore, so it'll sit there for days before being returned, maybe.

Lost my wedding ring. 90% sure I dropped it into the recycling while rushing to get the kids to school yesterday morning, so it’s long gone. Wouldn’t give much of a gooseberry fool except it was my grandfather’s ring. Little, tiny bit utterly devastated.

I thought I'd lost mine last year after a night on the piss, and I was devastated. That coupled with a raging hangover made it 10 times worse. Turns out it was under my anti perspirent, and was perfectly inside a ring shaped recess in the base.

Hope it turns up!

That's awful, so sorry to hear that has happened to you. :(

Losing regular stuff can be bad enough, i know the last item i lost was my Kimoa cap, left it in a cafe on Brompton Road opposite Harrods. It was well over an hour before i realised it was missing and had no clue where i left it. Therefore i reported the loss to Harrods lost property just in case i'd mislaid it there, then headed back to the cafe just in case. In the end i found it still on the table where i'd been sat, turns out the cap was so grubby and worn, no one else wanted it.

If the recycling you're talking about is a local authority collection service, get in touch and explain the situation. Many councils gain additional income and/or avoid higher waste disposal costs by meticulously sifting and sorting household recycling, so there's a possibility someone will find your ring (especially if it's made of any kind of precious and/or metallic element) and if they have been made aware to look out for it, there's a chance it could make its way back to you. It might not, but it's surely worth a go.

I’ve been trying to do this but it’s seemingly impossible to phone and speak to a human. Best I could do is email them and then wait for two weeks.

Anyone over the age of 60 when they get a new phone, they text everyone saying their new number rather than doing the PAC code thing, it's not 2005 anymore :(

A curse of the modern age that, phone numbers that don't go anywhere, A.I. robots. Ai Chatbots, it's awful. I am so so sick of every company accepting this as customer service. Just let me talk to someone who can at least attempt to fix my problem, I wouldn't be using your phone line or online chat if I was able to sort the problem myself on your website or FAQs.

Yep. I spoke to someone at the council today and the best they could manage was saying that the email I sent the day it went missing has definitely been forwarded to the right subsection of the company responsible for that particular aspect of waste management. Tomorrow it’ll be three days since I fired that email off, and if there was any hope of that ring being found I’d imagine it’d be something of a time-sensitive matter.

In a similar vein I was chatting with the wife today about how much retail has changed in the 20 years since I worked food retail. Back then we had shelf stackers, delicatessen staff, butchers, heads for each major category (fresh food, frozen, booze, non-food etc), checkout operators, warehouse staff, management and so on, and pulling staff from one to cover for another was a guaranteed disciplinary - for the person responsible for setting the staff rota and/or the supervisor or manager pulling the staff off their job to fill a gap. Letting queues at the tills get more than three people long for more than a minute or so was a disciplinary outside of unexpected circumstances. Pulling a member of staff who signed a contract to work 20 hours sitting on the tills and sending them to do work lugging cages around the warehouse was a bollocking of the highest order.

Watching supermarkets testing just how much of that structure they can get away with stripping away over the last 20 years has been pretty reflective of the way most big companies are running right now. Retail is unrecognisable compared to when I worked - so many roles have been homogenised and bundled together into a shitty zero hour contract.
