I don't take issue with it, treat your dog if you want. I just find it very funny the degree of abstraction in a product like that, which all but tacitly suggests your dog needs to look toward to Christmas.

It's a dog.

I also want to know how we encourage the dog to know it is Christmas, like, what does the dog have to look forward to. Does it gain a better understanding through the cognitive process of getting a treat every day leading up to... Something.

Perhaps to the dog, it is "counting 24 days until..." day. "I am counting towards something, but I don't know what it is. If I keep counting, perhaps I will find out eventually".

This kind of existential deathtrap should be illegal for dogs.

Surely they're just training the dog to expect a ritualised treat every day for three and a half weeks?

That's what a good dog does! It's slavery.

How do we know the dog knows good is good.

Perhaps good actually means bad, and all this time they have been a bad dog, and getting a pat on the head is punishment.

How does a dog know, if it is good or bad, or what is good or bad. How do we know.

Merry Christmas everyone

I got an advent calendar for my cat last year because it was the first week of December and they were at the tils in the pet shop so thought they were selling them off cheap.

It came up as £8 though but I went along with it to avoid the slight awkward interaction of changing my mind.

Cat enjoyed it at first but was sick of the stuff by the end of the month.

Bought a subscription to Mac Format magazine. Supposed to come with a free rucksack worth £90 (though let's be real, more like £50). Future Publishing instead just randomly send me a pack of golf balls, with no explanation. I didn't even know it was from them at first, it was only by searching through other subscription offers that I found that they also sell a golf mag with this promotion. It says in the small print "in the unlikely event that we run out of this gift, we promise to offer you an alternative gift of the same value."

Because that's just what a subscriber to a computer magazine wants. GOLF BALLS.

You can use them to go to Bath and pelt them.

Tbh I can get some fantastic bags for way below £50 wholesale that sell for ridiculous prices otherwise. More like £25:£75+

I'm hopefully studying overseas next year. I can't go to Japan (which would be my first choice) but I've applied to Seoul, Singapore and Hong Kong. I know people mean well but I do wish they would stop with the "oh, you'll love Korea, it'll be exactly like Japan." I mean, no, Korea is its own country with its own culture and history.

I used to get this with holiday planning too. "Why don't you go to China/Korea/Taiwan/Vietnam? If you love Japan you'll love those places too!". I'm sure I will love those places (Taiwan was great!) but if I go to those places I'm going for my interest in those places not because of superficial similarities to another country.

It reduces those countries to some sort of pan-Asian monoculture and it reduces my interests to "he likes Japan and things like Japan".
