tbf he wasn't interested in giving people watching in cinemas a decent experience with Tenet, too. So much conversation that just got drowned out by other sounds. Don't think I heard a single thing that was spoken on that hydroplane(?)

Christopher Nolan movies suffer from this quite a bit. I don't know who he uses for his post production, but he needs to look at using someone else, because it's a consistent issue in his films.

The worst film I've ever watched in terms of mix was the first Fantastic Beasts film. I couldn't hear Eddie Redmayne's character most of the time, and I didn't have a strawberry floating clue what was happening in the film, as most of the exposition was by him.

I understand, I've spent tonnes of time mixing audio and it is difficult most of the time. But I'm some asshole sitting upstairs mixing with shite equipment and with zero knowledge. They are professionals.

The worst part is when everyone mumbles and then it suddenly kicks into a loud fight scene or soundtrack so you have to grab for the remote to turn it down again. I had to put the subtitles on for some of the recent Star Trek Discovery episodes as I had no idea what anyone was saying.

Yeah, there's a lot of that in Tenet. My soundbar has a volume levelling option which works for adverts but had no effect on this film. It was like someone was remotely messing with my, well, remote.

There's load of sound options to mess around with but it's the faff of finding the right settings when you're supposed to be enjoying the film, and then afterwards of having to put all the menus back to how you had them again.

It probably is a lot to do with a poor stereo downmix compared to 5.1 or 7.1 or they just completely underestimate the dynamic range of a decent speaker set and mix for shitty in-built flat panel speakers that then explode when moving over to some proper drivers.

You are definitely selecting a stereo mix either on the film itself or on your AV receiver or TV, right? Because if you don't do that, you'll likely get low or no audible dialogue whatsoever, because the centre "dialogue" speaker is literally missing from your setup.

Speaking of annoying audio issues I'm currently pissed off as the headphones that I bought only about 8 months ago and paid a reasonable sum of money for have decided to strawberry floating break.

Currently in discussion with Amazon about getting them replaced under warranty, I can't imagine that will be an easy process.

... or it will be surprisingly painless! Replacement item being sent out ASAP!

Hopefully this one doesn't strawberry floating break within a year!

My wireless Sennheiser ones decided to sometimes refuse to charge, almost exactly as the one year warranty ended.

And shortly after that, the lid came off the charging case, they still work 80% of the time though.
