The sheer number of life insurance adverts on during the day when I've got the TV on for background noise while working from home. As many as 3 in one ad break sometimes.

Yeah being reminded of your mortality all strawberry floating day is exactly what the TV watching audience wants.

Then there's the countless bingo/gambling ads and the ever present Vax Platinum carpet cleaner ad (pronounced plat-num in the ad).

Definitely this.

If i tried to be one mind, i'm not sure it would work as no one listens to me in real life anyways. :slol:

The fact that influencers are a thing and the market for them is set to grow substantially is something I just don't understand. People need heroes to worship, I guess.

Obviously I take inspiration from other people. Everyone does that naturally all the time. But taking things to the level of influencers seems so odd to me. Do people secretly crave the idea of being told what to like, how to think etc, for fear of having an opinion/taste that sets them apart from the crowd?

The fact I seem to have lost all control of my sleep schedule on the weekend. I sleep at 1-2 during the week then the second it hits Friday night I'm usually awake until around 4AM because I just don't seem to get tired. It essentially has meant I never see the morning on the weekends.

During the week this is 100% true. I only sleep about 6-7 hours a day but then again anymore than that and I usually feel worse. It's not like I'm not sleeping well on the weekends it's just I find it hard to want to sleep. I think it's because late evenings/nights I get to do more of the things I enjoy where as on the mornings there's not really much for me today.

All the banks now being shut at the weekend.

I need to deposit a cheque but the banks are all now only Monday-Friday. If you need to reduce hours/days it'd be far better being shut on a Monday to be open Saturday.

Tried going to the post office instead and was told I needed an envelope from my bank to deposit a cheque with them. If I could go to my bank to get an envelope I wouldn't need to go to the strawberry floating post office would I?

You can deposit cheques from banking apps. The Lloyds one does it, you just take a photo of the front and back of it.

The TSB app doesn't do that unfortunately.

I tried, they said I need a deposit slip and envelope from my bank. If I could go to the bank and get those I wouldn't need to deposit my cheque at the post office.

Which bank are you with? I'm with Nationwide and they let you deposit cash and cheques in a machine on the outside of the bank.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

TSB. They have a machine for cash/cheque deposits, but it's inside the branch :fp:

Ah NW have both one inside and outside. The outside one is pretty basic though, pretty much a fancy depositing box that's manually processed each evening. The one inside is a modern machine that scans the cheque and pays it in much faster.

Not that this helps you now, but the post office fobbed you off. It's the responsibility of the post office branch to ensure they have deposit slips and envelopes, not yours.

Yeah, to pay in a cheque via the post office, you need a personal paying in slip (which you provide and complete) and an envelope (that the post office provides). Here's how the post office services work for NatWest bank.
