Every channel has to decide whether or not their channel is 'made for kids', i've set mine as 'not made for kids', but some of my videos such as my 'Inside Hamleys' video has required me changing the setting manually.
The biggest issue is YouTube are being rather vague on what 'made for kids' actually means, as their descriptions do not make it clear if something like a Paddington bear 50p album, or an old Lego movie i made 25 years ago, would fit into that category as there seems to be a lot of grey areas, same goes for some gaming videos such as Yooka Laylee (must be a nightmare for Nintendo channels).
The issue for me, is that i've had to go through the 1800 videos on my channel and decide which need to be set as 'made for kids', and it's been an almighty pain in the ass.
I was reading about this today, and it's somewhat worrying.
I think my channel probably violates it, even though it is not monetised and I've altered the age group I'm focusing on to be adults. I have a little channel for my music covers, they usually focus on video game music. Some of the static images I use for thumbnails and the videos themselves, could be classed as child friendly (one of the recent videos has artwork from a Mario game in it).
From what I gather, I could be in violation of this COPPA thing, but I'm none the wiser if I actually am or not. The guidance on it is really, really vague (it cannot be understated how vague it is, because it is really strawberry floating vague).
