Out of sheer laziness I still use Adblock too but I believe uBlock has ways to spoof that so it doesn't know you're using an ad blocker... Or rather just disables all the pop ups and gooseberry fool that obscure your view of the page.

(Small tip: sometimes you can get around these with reader view in Firefox, which helps with gooseberry fool layouts as well, and even view articles behind paywalls sometimes because they just hide the text with CSS )

Hermes really take arseholery to a new level. Wrecked my parcel, and since June I've been trying to get them to refund me 9 poxy quid. 3 MONTHS. Still unresolved. Keep bouncing you around from one respondent to the next, asking for the same details over and over again. No wonder they don't have phone lines, I would have called the person on the other end a banana split by now.

If you have something even remotely valuable for god sakes don't use them.

I sent back a Kindle Oasis that wasn't holding a charge to amazon with them and it never arrived.
I phoned amazon multiple times and they couldn't get hold of them either which is amazing. I work for a company that uses TNT (3 lorries daily which is tiny compared to what I imagine amazon and Hermes do) and they can phone them at any time of day and get package updates so what the strawberry float Hermes think they're doing is beyond me.

Terrible, terrible company with zero customer service skills.
I add my voice to the call to avoid Hermes.

I get TNT deliveries from one of my commercial suppliers and they're pretty much always fine. The only thing I really don't agree with is they courier live animals (reptiles) who often show up in vehicles dead on arrival, I wonder why.

I think I also got my huge heat press from them, it was horrendously packed (literally a big 30KG steel item in an empty box with a few bits of newspaper thrown in) but survived coming from Wales to the south coast.

Some people hate TNT though. It's all the same.

"Tear here" strips on packaging that don't sodding work. They either don't pull at all or just pull off without opening the bloody thing!

People bumping long planned meetings 5 minutes before it's due to start, and bumping it by weeks.

I've been spending days creating visuals for this When I could have been doing other more pressing things, I'm sat with everything ready to present, and it's just NOPE see you in 2 weeks with no explanation at all.

Maybe in 2 weeks with just 3 minutes to go you tell them to reschedule in 6 weeks?

Just this afternoon, our 'catch-up' meeting with senior management was pushed back by another few weeks, two hours before it was due to start.

This is the fourth time it has been pushed back.

Days off. Unless you have a plan of things to do as stringent as any work timetable its so easy for it to go from 8am to 5pm in the blink of an eye and you find you've done bugger all.

Loads of things recently - TV adverts, meetings at work, news broadcasts, and even everyday conversations - using "in these unprecedented times", or a variation of it.

"In these unprecedented times"
"In this new normal"
"In these unusual times"
"In these strange times"

And then the worst, which I heard yesterday:

"In these COVID times" :dread: :fp:

Yes, we know we're in a pandemic, we've been aware of it for quite a while now. There's no need to reference it every single day, in every possible facet of life. :fp:

Why is it impossible for me to buy a USB-C cable that actually works? Is this what being old is? Has it finally happened?

I bought 2 in the Co-OP 2 days ago. Seems to work perfectly fine.
