It is a bit, but thats why I just use it at lunch when it is just less hassle to mix that up and drink it than making or cooking something. There are people that live off it and they are insane, but for me it works as a lunch as I didn't ever have anything interesting for lunhc often anyway and if I fancy something else I'll have it, but this is a good known amount of calories that I also know covers me nutritionally so for what I need its perfect.

I need to track what I eat and keep to around 1900 calories as a base line, obviously any exercise I do goes on top of that, but this way I have a nice solid "lunch will be 400" each day and work around that. Its meant I've maintained my weight for about 6 months since hitting my target of 82kg at the end of a long time dropping from 107kg.

It isn't traditional food and it isn't for everyone, but for me it works as a lunch as it is good for me nutritionally and is a known quantity for calories as well as being filling which prevents snacking.

But I can have that, skip a real meal and kid myself it's a substitute for proper exercise!!!!!!!

It isn't skipping a meal it is a meal.

I have it because the alternative for lunch would be sandwiches, rice maybe, salad I guess, basically I'm either going to have a strawberry float load of calories will not all the nutrition in it, or some of the nutrition but feel hungry again within an hour. Huel fills me up until about 4, has a good chunk of the nutrients I need in a day and is 400 calories for lunch making keeping my calories under relative control easy.

It gets lumped either into "diet drinks" or "protein shakes" which it is neither, it can be used to diet, but it is food in the same way a sandwich is, the difference is the calories are easy controlable, is balananced and has the nutirtion you need.

Its also damn convenient which was why I started it as 100g of powder and a bottle is much easier to transport than a whole lunch.

As for exercise it isn't a substiute unless all you want to do is drop weight through calorie control. I dont do as much as maybe I should but I have a hour route I do every lunch time and a 3 hour route I do on a Friday after I finish my Uni stuff.

No it isn't.

It is, food is something you consume to gain energy and nutrition, which is what Huel is. Its different sure, but it is food.

Food is so much more than that, it's also eaten for enjoyment, for socialising, even as ritual. Huel is precisely what it's portmanteau says, it's intended to be the most bare bones fuel for humans.

I love my food far too much to eat anything like that. Every meal is something i look forward to, even if it's just a simple tuna wrap.

My in laws often forget to eat lunch which is something I can't fathom

People who haven't done something for a long time saying "it's been a minute since..." no it hasn't you meme-loving strawberry float, it's been weeks, months or whatever. I probably don't care either way but at least use your words and time measurements you were presumably taught by someone somewhere.

This is something I've picked up on recently too, and I just find it confusing. Traditionally I'd assumed that someone using a minute to express time would usually mean a brief period. A New York minute is an expression that means right now, I'll be there in a minute means you'll be there soon, and so on. Now, it seems people are using minute to mean a long period of time, albeit mainly on places like Youtube or Twitter. Haven't posted for a few months? "Hey, it's been a minute". Really odd.

Hey guys, it's been a minute since I posted some CONTENT [3 actual minutes of garbage nobody cares about, this video is sponsored by audible/Squarespace/Nord VPN/skillshare] don't forget to smash that like button, here's a list of all the new patreon members....

Has the internet ground away all our sense of self that having some strawberry float on the internet read out your bloody patreon username is a cause for celebration? Guy Debord was right.

I've not heard that yet. Another stupid abuse of language – bloody young people, when will they learn to be sensible like us?! :x

I'm still trying to get over the distress caused by 'released' being inexplicably replaced by 'dropped'. :dread:

Careful now, if you criticise the obnoxious monetisation of everything on the internet in any way, it means you're an entitled monster who expects people to work to entertain you for free.

It’s an Americanism that’s been in use for some time over there, and is now creeping in over here too.

I think I'm an outlier in that I tend to view food as a necessity rather than something I enjoy. Not all the time, there are some foods I do love but generally meal times are something I have to do rather than something I look forward to. At its worst (although this is rare) I see meal times as a hassle. I can cook, I do cook, for the most part I just don't enjoy it.

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

Steam constantly asking me my age when trying to view a store page.

You know my strawberry floating age already. You know everything about me!

Every time I get that, the drop downs have autopopulated the date and year of my birth, but never the month, so Steam definitely has a record of my DOB somewhere, but seemingly just refuses to use it.

It's been a hot minute since I saw someone complain about this.

That one really does make no sense.

If you drop something, you need to go and pick it up ffs!

Isn't that the idea, though?
