It used to be a case of them having nothing in stock just before a new catalogue came out. Now though we don't even get those.

Even the catalogues are out of stock!

A successful one by the sounds of things given that they're selling stock faster than they can get it in.

I generally want to support the likes of Argos, but they make it so difficult to buy from them. You want to give them your business, but there's always some gooseberry fool that means they can't/won't fulfill your order. Makes you want to not bother.

I think it's more each store carries very little stock of certain items not expecting them to sell at all.

Had a trip to the tip but unfortunately the garden stuff we were getting rid of was full of tiny spiders, and now so is our car. Hundreds of the bastards, must have been a nest in there.

Apple using stupid proprietary file formats.

My mum sent me a couple of pictures of the cat from her iPhone and Windows can't open the images as they're in HEIC format

Apparently I already have that installed but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Installed a converter app from the windows store and that's done the trick.

To be fair Apple didn't invent that (they rarely invent anything :lol:

), it's from the same group that developed JPEG and MPEG and MP3 (which was just the audio part of the MP2 standard).

I have similar issues dealing with WebP images though. There's always a battle between software (in some cases pretty major software like adobe etc) and the faster moving "web" formats that target efficiencies in terms of file size and streaming capabilities.

Why are there so many file formats, exactly? When I go to save a photo, why can't there just be three options (piss poor quality, average quality, amazeballs) and that's it? Let's dumb it down, maaaaan.

Having video software not recognising different video file types is my bugbear.

A while back my rabbit's vet changed over to a voicemail system for repeat prescriptions rather than having to speak directly to the receptionist, which works fine in theory. Only they don't keep the strawberry floating voicemail system on outside of business hours! If I have to call while you're open, just answer the strawberry floating phone! :evil:

our car broke down on the motorway and had to be towed away. The AA told us the problem and we took it to a Skoda garage to get fixed and now they're saying it needs more work done beyond that and I hate this kind of thing because I don't want the car to break again or have later, more expensive, issues, but also the car is old and will not be as good as a new car and the Skoda garage are used to dealing with shiny new Skodas so I need to work out how much to shell out for now and how much to hope keeps going for longer.

Also we were on our way to the Lakes for a week away and this is gooseberry fool timing.
