I wonder if that's related to the McDonalds fuckery yesterday. And the Just Eat fuckery I had last night.

Talking of supermarkets, I feel like writing an email of complaint to M&S, because I was looking at one of my Mum's receipts and they've overcharged her yet again for something she only purchased one of (in this instance rice). It's the only supermarket I'm aware of that allows you to double scan the same item twice in quick succession at the self service, nor do their scales seemingly pick up the fact the weight is out by 250g.

Yet the scales would go apeshit if it was only 50g out the other way. Appalling that they deliberately turn a blind eye when it’s in their favour.

You should definitely complain. I bet their system logs the weight - actual vs expected - so they’ll see that it was wrong if you make them look into it. For transparency, they should print that information on the receipts, IMO.

I get this issue sometimes at Waitrose, it's a real nuisance how sensitive it is.

We usually do our supermarket shop in store, but as we had a busy schedule this weekend we had a Sainsbury's delivery planned for tonight. :x I actually popped into big Sainsbury's this morning for some bits that couldn't wait until the delivery (nappies and formula mainly) and should have realised something was up, as the staff were out front warning everyone it was cash only and the cash machine was out of order. They'll lose an absolute fortune today.

Tesco now also reporting issues. I wonder if it's because they're overwhelmed by Sainsbury's customers trying to get a delivery from somewhere else.

BBC News: Sainsbury's chief executive Simon Roberts has written to customers, saying those affected will receive an online voucher in the coming days in apology for the disruption.

Ironically the latest spate of redundancies they announced heavily impacted the contact centres that are fielding all the calls from irate customers today. :simper:

All well and good sending a voucher, but the coupons I'd opted to use for today's delivery that wasn't have all disappeared from my account, so I better get those back too.

I guess that might explain why I haven't even got a cancellation notice yet. If it wasn't for you telling me I'd have had no idea what had happened

I ordered some emergency groceries from Amazon which came like 3 hours later to cover breakfast/lunch and dinner for the next few days and re-ordered a sainsburys delivery for Monday with the rest.

Wouldn't it be easier to, well, actually just go to a supermarket?

People who don't go to Waitrose and who can afford it...are they just boring and lazy?

I'm not feeling well and I hate dealing with people at the supermarket at the best of times. I had a lot of heavier stuff I needed and screw carrying it on the walk home.

Just easier to get shopping delivered.

Gonna have to change all the meal plans now as well.

No contact from Sainsbury's either, presumably they've totally lost sight of all orders, so don't have details to make contact, and instead got to find out from the news after wondering why my payment hadn't been taken this morning like it normally would.

I work for Sainsbury's and the internet connection they use for all work based stuff and Smart Shop went down, and the phones went down too.

I have a 3 year old and a 7 week old at home, so leaving the house at all is a massive task, let alone then taking round the supermarket for the weekly shop.

We've got an annual delivery pass while my wife's on maternity leave, and it's normally a great help.

Surprisingly for a Sunday morning I’ve already got a response:

Thanks for getting in touch about the experience your mum had with our self-service tills. I am so sorry to see that your mum has been overcharged twice. This is definitely not what we want for our loyal customers.
If this does happen again, please do email us the receipt and let us know which product was overcharged so that we can correct this for her.
I have raised a formal complaint so that the Management team and the Technical team can look into this for you. They will review the details of your complaint, and will ensure the necessary steps are being taken so that others are not let down similarly.
I have noted on the case that our team needs to look into the fact that the tills allow an item to be double scanned, which causes an overcharge. Furthermore, I have also noted on the case that you stated that this can be corrected by the technical team so that this does not happen in store. All your comments have been noted on the case so that our teams has all the information needed when they look into this for you.
Your feedback is really important to us as we’re always trying to improve our customer experience. I cannot promise you that the change will happen overnight, but I can assure you that your case has been raised to the relevant department and that it is being looked into.
Thank you for taking the time to write to us and letting us know about your experience. Please do not allow this one experience to keep you away. We are always striving to improve and provide you the customer with a pleasant journey.
We will try our best to do better. Keep well.
Kind Regards

You should now find £10 in your coupon wallet on the Sainsbury's website. Valid until March 2026.

Greggs having store-closing IT issues now. Sure it’s just coincidence.

"Press Any Button" on a games menu screen. So when you press a button and expect it to go to the menu, but instead it simply replays the intro.

So in effect it's "Press Any Button, but not that one."

Doesn't inspire confidence if the very first thing your game asks me to do is wrong.
