Look, i'm not here to start a religious debate.

But as a practicing Christian if there is one thing that grinds my gears it is Christianity, or more specifically the nutjob side that the media seems to come into contact with. I've seen firsthand the good the church does for society. I've been out and helped out revellers on a saturday night with spare flipflops for women whose high heels are killing their feet and bottles of water for the dehydrated. I've met the people that knocked on the vicarage door at 2am having escaped an abusive partner and had literally nowhere else to go. I've seen the mothers doing the same because society and an uncaring government have left them with *nothing* to feed and clothe their kids. I've seen the church act as a mediator between impoverished estates and the police, whom the residents distrust. I have had kids attach themselves to me for a week through summer club because I'm probably the only adult to speak to them without sounding angry for months. I've seen all this done and more with nothing but an agenda of kindness and love. Most of the people mentioned did not come to church ever again apart from the Christmas service and were not beaten over the head with a bible. They were never judged, preached to or otherwise coerced into anything. It may not be like this everywhere and I can appreciate how many Christians do a really bad job of advertising the church. If your own personal experiences were different I apologise.

The church has no place judging those outside its walls because people all over live by different moral codes. I'm not here to preach to the forum. But we should be doing a better job of cleaning up the church. We should be calling out the bloody republican nutters on TV who say they are believers and then do the exact opposite of everything Jesus said. They support not supporting the poor. They happily judge people who choose to live their lives in a different way to them. And they most definitely missed the point of the parable of the good samaritan. (Sumerians and Jews did not get on at all in the first century. Racism was rife within the region)

I have probably contradicted myself countless times above. The church should not seek praise for its work, the fruits should just be visible for all to see. And yet I am annoyed that it does not get any credit! I don't want to start another GR religious debate because we really don't need another one. I just had to get that off my chest.

Enjoy your day and go in peace.

Regarding religion, I found Jesus at Christmas, that is little painted pebbles featuring baby Jesus designs which had been placed around town by the hundred.

Ended up with quite a few of them too.

People that rely on using the word obviously in a non-sarcastic manner to make themselves seem more intelligent, especially when talking about something that is absolutely not bloody obvious.

Check out my YouTube channel!

Yeah, it can be really annoying when someone emphasises how easy something that's actually quite hard is. Comes across as very arrogant.

Now and then it stems from a lack of confidence, though. The person is awkward and nervous and is using it to mean something like "you probably know this already of course, sorry for wasting your time". (I get that's not the scenario you're talking about though!)

I was brought up going to church until I was 16 or so, so I know what values a Christian should be living by.

A lot of those evangelical type people in America are not Christians in my eyes. They are so far away from being one.

On the religious flipside, i've encounted far too many atheists over the years who have been utterly obnoxious, condescending, and monumentally arrogant.

It's okay if you don't have any significant beliefs (same goes for those who do), but it's not okay for you to keep banging on about it, filling my facebook news feed with your propaganda, and generally being a complete jerk.

The moon is a hologram to hide the studio lighting for the day time

Obviously, fantastic, wonderful and amazing are all words that cannot be used in British English without an air of sarcasm, I just can't hear them anything but sarcastically.
