I spent what I would consider an eye watering amount of money yesterday on essentially a midi controller but the implementation was flawless (and bloody rightly so). Still, I feel your pain as I have used a lot of devices and only 15 years later am I actually throwing money at the problem. (As an aside, this is a positive blip, I am rather poor for the UK and make about £5000 a year). I've done my fair share of messing around with drivers. The trouble often is cheap audio interfaces come with strawberry floating dreadful software. Low latency audio (especially on Windows) is hard. It should be better these days but still.

If you want to take it back, I've not had trouble with focusrite hardware and now I'm on SSL for the control side of things which is strawberry floating insane (still using the focusrite interface for io as 10 years later its still working fine over numerous operating systems). They've taken manufacture over to China from Oxford for some things so they have cheap 1 or 2 chanel I interfaces. I say cheap around £150 but I suspect they work given yesterday's experience.

If you bought online you have essentially more rights, return it in as new condition for any reason within 28 days for cash refund. If its faulty you shouldn't have to pay return postage.

I meant to get back to you on this Gecko, apologies.

I think I'm gonna follow your advice, refund this and get a focusrite. This has been irritating as hell

Who built it by the way?

Usb3 or lightning should be reliable these days for audio. Like I say I usually comes down to the drivers.

My focusrite for what it's worth has worked on OSX and Windows, they even developed a free tool to re assign IRQs on Windows which I won't get onto here but used to cause massive issues back in the day. It worked then and worked now, all I had to do was read support articles to check stuff. At that time firewire was sometimes an issue on bad quality chipsets for example so they said what worked and I bought one just in case (a texas instruments
pci firewire card). Sometimes these things can be a motherboard problem, usually its shoddy driver support.

They're English engineered (lol I hear you're a racist now gecko) with a long pedigree in mix desks and outbound gear etc plus register the device and you get free plugins and gooseberry fool every few months from lesser known plugin makers, Google "focusrite plug in collective". My device is from 2010 and I'm still in on that! You also normally get free Ableton live starter or similar and some compressor and eq plugins based on their old processors.

It's not officially supported anymore but is at least tested to work on recent OS so I know where I stand. gooseberry fool just works. Good studio dependent stuff and that's why I haven't replaced, I just see no point. I hope I'm not wrong. :slol:

Blatantly incorrect cooking instructions.

My chicken flavoured Batchelors supernoodles (which we all know is by far their best flavour) says it needs to simmer for 4 minutes. This is bollocks. 4 minutes it's barely begun to soften them. It clearly needs at least 8 minutes, unless you boil them to strawberry float.

B&Q

My parents are getting their kitchen done and wanted a new hob, which B&Q show as being available for delivery from 7 days. Great. So we purchase a gift card through my employee discount site, place the order online and all goes through ok with no options showing up for delivery. However only after the order was complete did it suddenly show up that Delivery would be on 20th August. So it's suddenly gone from 7 days to 2 and half months.

Called them up and they said there's no earlier delivery available and every single branch in the country is out of stock of that particular hob, and they only want to refund to a gift card. Problem is that a gift card is totally useless since the hob was the only thing needed and if they can't provide it in time then we've got zero use for a B&Q gift card. Supposed to be getting a call back from a manager within 72 hours to see about a manual refund. I'm happy to forward them the receipt for the gift card, we only want a refund of the gift card cost, but what's most annoying was the complete misinformation shown on the product page prior to ordering that states you can get the product much more quickly than the actual timeframe. From speaking to them it's clear that they have absolutely no stock of the product at the moment and are awaiting a delivery from the supplier/manufacturer which they clearly aren't expecting until August, so they absolutely shouldn't be listing it as "Delivery from 7 days" on the product page.

Edit - Surprisingly got a call back from a Manager earlier this evening and they're going to send out a cheque for a refund, so problem solved. Top marks for B&Q Customer Service at least, just a shame the people responsible for ensuring the web stock availability are dropping the ball and causing the mess in the first place.

Thought i'd have a go at crab fishing at the seaside today, got the bucket, bait, and line and was all set.

Then a seagull stole my bait (it literally grabbed the entire bag and disappeared over the horizon with it).

Somewhere in the UK is a seagull who has just finished feeding their family that bait, commenting on a forum blessing the free food they were given on this day.

Seagulls are bastards. I once had one rip almost an entire cornish pasty out of my hands just as I was about to take a bite. That thing's jaws were mere inches from my face.

It was an actual cornish pasty in Cornwall too. I didn't buy another one.

I'm almost certain I've told this story once or twice before...

I live in Cornwall near the coast. You learn to live with them after a while. Although this time of year they desert the towns and villages and spend all their time feeding at the beaches. Some welcome respite.

I was shopping with a friend of mine years ago, as we walked out of a shopping centre a seagull swooped down and grabbed a Cornish pasty out of his hands.

He screamed the girliest scream I've ever heard. I was the worst possible friend as I laughed about it for days.

A seagull once shat on an ice cream I was just about to start eating,, I barely noticed until the last second and just managed to avoid eating any of it.

The same can't be said for the box of Rice Krispies that a mouse had gooseberry fool in, didn't notice until halfway through a bowl of them. Utterly traumatic experience that was.

I've also had a lunch stolen by a seagull. I laughed it off but it hurt inside - I really wanted that sausage roll!

Walking to work in Lossie was a nightmare. Nesting seagulls, which are apparently protected by law, chattering at you, then diving at you for half a mile. A friend got a massive cut on the back of his head from a seagull attack.

Oystercatchers though? Not protected so shoot them all. :simper:

When I was at school, someone in my year threw a stone at a seagull just after it had taken off. The stone hit the seagull and the seagull promptly fell to the ground. I'm not sure what happened to it after that as we had to go to our next lesson.

I had the buggers steal a cheeseburger out of my hand just as I was about to take a bite from it, on the same road a year earlier my partner had a whole sandwich stolen. When I go to Dundee now I avoid having food out around there, otherwise I know one of those beaky bastards will steal it.

Ludo is gooseberry fool!
