I've seen a fair few that aren't even ridiculous news stories, they're just going to get people's hopes up over something they like, such as videogame reveals, a fan favourite coach signing a new deal :fp:

Absolutely with you on this. They've just become so cringe and try hard. And if they're not that, they're just teasing fans, as you say.

I love Bruce Campbell but he shared a "leaked" page of the Doctor Strange 2 script which included an Evil Dead cameo and it was just incredibly irritating in a Borat "you will never get this" kind of way.

Not the same, but it's still a million times better than decaf coffee.

Is that really the only thing about the pandemic you find annoying?

Right now i have nothing but utter hatred for the lockdowns, masks, those distancing stickers/signs you see everywhere, queuing outside the few shops which are open, the endless bloody poetry, and those smug bastards who seem to have enjoyed the whole rotten experience.

Thats just of the things. I've just accepted that a lockdown is a lockdown so queueing for shops etc doesn't bother me that much but having said that I rarely see queues but I tend to go at less busy times.

Facebook appears to have to removed the 'most recent' option for your feed/timeline/whatever from the app, turning it from just 'gooseberry fool' to 'utterly unusable'.

Why in strawberry float do social media sites think we want to see what everyone's doing in anything other than chronological order?

Because they don't want you to know when you're at the start and end. They want you to keep scrolling forever, consuming more and more ads as you mindlessly keep scrolling.

God, that's absolutely it, isn't it?

It sounds so bleak when you put it like that.

It is. Watch The Social Dilemma on Netflix. They talk a lot about stuff like this. It is terrifying in parts.

Youtube's new age verification thingy.

Before, you just needed to log in and set your age in your account. Now, they want me to send them a photo of my ID, or give them a credit card number, like I'm trying to view an early 2000s porn site or something.

Wanted to view the NIN Closer video, and apparently I'm not allowed to watch it without giving Google even more of my personal information. Can't even embed it elsewhere to view it.

Yep, it's in keeping with new EU regulations. All hosted video content viewed on the internet (which is potentially 18+) is going to need proper ID confirmation apparently.

Although why UK viewers are being included I don't know. I guess Youtube implemented it before we left the EU, so we're stuck with it too? At least for a while.

The Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) is an EU-wide coordination of national legislation on audiovisual media – both traditional TV broadcasts and on-demand services. Recently, AVMSD was revised to extend certain rules to video-sharing platforms (VSPs).

In line with AVMSD, you may be asked to re-verify your date of birth when watching age-restricted videos. Follow the prompts to submit an image of a valid ID or credit card. Learn more about what we do with your ID/credit card.

I'm seeing a lot of "When quarantine/covid/corona is over I'm going to hug you all so hard" type memes/posts on facebook.

Me: I'm not a hugger, plus a year of social distancing has made me even more wary about social contact. Please don't hug me when this is over.

Facebook crowd: Tough dude, we've missed hugs. Gonna hug you even harder now. Too bad, nothings going to stop me hugging you.

Me: I'm being serious guys, please respect my boundaries. You're making it so I don't want to see you after this is over

Facebook crowd: Haha! We know where you live, you're not getting away that easily! One extra big hug coming up

I mean seriously, replace "hug" with "strawberry float" and see how creepy they all sound. But apparently consent and bodily autonomy don't count when you've missed hugs

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread
