Using the trains is always an absolute last resort, but for strawberry float's sake, it's such a mess.

Have to book in advance to get anything close to a non-rip-off fare, and even then you have to specify the exact train you're going to arrive and leave on. What if I don't know, or don't want to be restricted to a set time? Oh, I have to book a different 'anytime' fare, that completely negates the benefit of booking in advance and cost an absolute bomb. Well over £100 for an hour's journey each way :dread: :fp:

Looks like booking an off-peak travelcard might work, but are there any details as to what time I can travel from? No, of course not. I can apparently return with that ticket up until 04:29 the next day, but no information at all about when I can travel from :fp:

When I go to book it offers me a choice as to which train operator to buy a ticket from. Apparently I can buy a return ticket to London from the south east using Hull Trains? Baffling why they let you choose when there's no difference in price and no option of which train to use anyway.

Why are our trains so utterly awful? Overpriced, overcrowed, unreliable, uncomfortable, an absolute mess of a ticketing and fare system...such a strawberry floating joke.

Could you try the coaches maybe? Takes longer to get there, but you're guaranteed a seat and it's cheaper.

The Scotrail site is great because it lets go get as far as logging in after selecting your ticket, then drops a strawberry floating "you cannot access this page" gooseberry fool on your lap.

The train network in this country is shambolic, almost entirely due to it being privatised by the strawberry floating Tories.

That's what i do, and it's normally around £30 for a return ticket (2 - 2 1/2 hour journey depending on where the coach is dropping off).

I think it was a bit gooseberry fool before that too though.

The stupid little image things that Microsoft have added to the Windows 10 search bar (currently a Pride flag), I don't want it (it's irritating seeing it in my peripheral vision) but can't work out how to get rid of it.

If you disable to 'show search highlights' under the search options, that gets rid of it.

I had no idea about that, because strawberry float global search that wrecks your PC trawling through a grindingly slow index anyhow.

So I just checked and can see how it could be annoying, kind of large user interface element for whatever it is MS want to promote.

I say this as a queer person btw, I know you don't mean that.

Related: When Windows periodically prompts you to "finish setting up" your device - by which it means signing in to a Microsoft account and using cloud storage. No, that isn't finishing set up, that's an optional thing I keep choosing not to do, stop asking me.

I was caught out by this the other day on my dad's PC. I was fixing a few things and I got that "finish setting up your device" message. Took me a while to work out it's a sign-up for cloud storage  :x .

I always have the search bar hidden - it's horrible to use at the best of times.

Maybe it's because it's a very hot day, but I am annoyed reading some of the comments on Eurogamer about some PC and PS5 games now being £70. One basically says "you are to blame if games stop being made if you wait for a sale" ( :fp: ) and the other falls back on "I remember paying £70 for Turok N64 so this is all okay" ( :fp: ).

Honestly, Turok N64 must have sold about 15 million copies at launch going by how many folk "bought it at £70".

Yep, that is annoying.

In fact, there are so many aspects of Windows 10 which seemingly exist for the sole purpose of being annoying.

...and don't even get me started again on the unavoidable updates which a few days ago took almost 2 hours to complete! I mean seriously, I finished the movie I started during it and the thing was only just finishing the process!

Windows 7 was the best operating system I ever used, so why did Microsoft have to bugger things up?

I'd say it more likely sold 15 copies.

I was close to putting a disclaimer about that but figured everyone would realize I was complaining about the feature rather than what it was currently promoting.
