My manager turned the thermostat all the way up yesterday because she was cold. It's going to be 31° today.

I don't get why it isn't just a set temperature and people dress accordingly. Why can one person decide that everyone else should be slightly uncomfortable because they chose not to wear sleeves this morning? I sit just opposite the thermostat, so the amount of people who change it or look at it every few minutes is shocking

I dislike heat in general, my house is seemingly designed to keep heat in so after a few days of warm weather, the temperature inside just keeps on climbing.

Even where I am now it's going to be 27c today yet my hotel room is quite cool even though there's no air con.

We have a set temperature in our place. No one bitches about it. My previous job didn't, it was constantly being altered. It was really annoying.

As a woman myself, I say women who mess with the air conditioning piss me off too. For strawberry float sake woman if you're cold put a jacket on if you're too cold, leave everyone else happy.

We've got one of those horrible pushes for productivity and improving our output at work at the moment, so I'm tempted to propose a fixed temperature to help save literal hours of discussions and grumbling and fiddling.

Hardly anybody here is happy with the temperature. A third of the office have fans on, another third have heaters on and the correct third think they are all mental.

There's one guy in the office who pretty much won't let us have the air conditioning on at all to "save the environment", and while I appreciate the sentiment, it's far from productive to be sat dripping with sweat and unable to concentrate on a hot day.

Should concentrate on your work instead

I used to work in an office that was once open plan but over time got chopped up into more and more smaller rooms. Either because they were doing it on the cheap or just didn't think about it they never considered how the air con might need updating during these changes and so as a result you had one room (ours) which had the thermostat controlling a single air con system for every room on the entire floor!

To make it worse they also positioned the rooms in such a way that there were some tiny rooms that had multiple air con outlets pumping cold air into them - it was strawberry floating freezing in one of them!

Oh the fun we had fiddling with the settings just to piss people off in other rooms!

Just set a fixed temperature and don't touch it, it shouldn't be hard

Mine does.

Like others have said, the women come up in with bare arms, bare legs, low cut tops, no socks, etc, then complain about being cold and turn the temperature up, while the men then turn it down because it's like an oven.

They wonder why others are hot in a small office with lots of PCs running, sun shining through the window, etc. They seem to dress primarily for their commute to and from work in the warm weather, which is about an hour of their day, rather than the 8 hours they'll be sitting in an air-conditioned office.

Yeah ours has air conn controls in each offices.

Austrian Toilets.

They are weird and very annoying as a result. When you do your business, instead of hitting the water it lands on a shelf. Then when you flush it shoots a jet of water across the shelf. Trouble is, the jet here isn't very powerful and so things do not always flush away and so need to be given a helping hand so to speak.

The same woman who keeps turning the air con off decided to put brown tape over the thermostat (most childish passive aggressive thing I've ever seen!) thinking that would prevent it from working.

You could still press the on button even with tape covering it. So naturally it went back on but the tape just hid the little green led light to let you know it's on. Ridiculous situation.
