I definitely think the crying laughing emoji has it's place. It's far more emotive than just responding with 'LOL'.

And to be honest, if you've said something funny enough to evoke that kind of response, I suspect you weren't angling for an in-depth discussion.

No greater feeling than dropping the bantz on someone in the group chat and it landing with a multiple crying emojis from the other lads

That’s what he did at the event.

I tried to return something that wasn't charged at the price marked in the sale, but I didn't notice until I got home, so I went back. Some weirdo old guy got all defensive and jumped on the till, that was manned by some young blonde girl who clearly needed protection dealing with such an outrageous request, and ended up threatening to call the police and banning me from the store. Arms waving and everything. It was weird and sort of disturbing and it gave me an anxiety attack which was not fun.

This was during Homebase's "Unmissable Clearance Event" when they were bought from Buntings (an Australian parent company). I recommend missing them as nothing is priced accurately or labelled correctly.

People that book half an hour meetings, and then always take an hour up. If it's going to be an hour, book a strawberry floating hour in because I may have to decline or cut it short.

In the early years of phpbb forums it was rolly eyes which wound people up the most.

But in recent years it seems to be more acceptable.

Websites and apps that push social engagement features without you explicitly consenting to them.

As someone who likes to "lurk" a lot when online, it really annoys me when platforms are built to display what everyone's doing by default. Like if I find a twitch streamer I like, so I want to follow them, but clicking that follow button means that a daft fanfare plays and a big message pops up on screen telling everyone that I've just followed. Instead I either have to wait until that person has stopped broadcasting and then go back and follow, or go really old school and start adding them as browser bookmarks.

I've also recently tried using discord, as apparently everyone who I sub to on Patreon has discord rewards, and besides it being an overwhelming mess that looks like you've been added to hundreds of WhatsApp group chats at once, it also tells everyone you're online by default, and shows people if you're typing.

It's like when I discovered that Facebook used to tell people who had viewed their stories, but never tells you as the viewer that people can see this, and I started to feel guilty, because sometimes I might look at stories from people I'd not spoken to in a while, and started to worry that they'd notice that I was looking at their posts, but not talking to them, and think I was some strawberry floating weirdo. Or when twitter started putting liked tweets into your followers timelines as well as retweets, and I suddenly totally changed my behaviour when it came to liking tweets, because I didn't want other people to see me as spamming up their feeds with stuff they didn't want.

tl;dr: social features give me anxiety, apparently.

Buncha stalking weirdos in here.

It's fine, if they didn't want people to know, they wouldn't have posted the story. They should be well aware that any people they've friended can see it. So the idea that anyone would deem another to be a stalker or something because they read it is strawberry floating ridiculous.

Seriously though, it's ridiculous that people aren't made aware of the information others will get about what they interact with. Everything's geared to give people all the information they can get about "engagement" with their "content" whilst zero concern is given to even letting others know what data they're sharing with people by interacting with it.

I don’t view anyone’s Stories. Solves that problem.

Actually Facebook trying to force Stories upon people fits nicely into this topic.

Yeah I never look at stories, it's a whole area of social media that I don't even understand the purpose of.

Actually that definition applies to pretty much all of social media!

This is for all the stuff that's too boring to make an actual post about.

It's more throwaway, the stuff doesn't save-you can keep adding to it and not worry as it will be gone within 24 hours. People don't want their "page" clogged up with most of the crap they put on their stories basically.

The irony being I'd rather see all the more "personal' type posts rather than all the shared memes type of posts Facebook tries to push these days.

If they don’t think it’s worth staying on their page then I don’t think it’s worth staying in my brain.
