Looks like someone has just bought a switch.

Especially true for tech stuff - if people are just told to google the answer to a problem, then eventually all we're left with are guides that are well out of date and irrelevant.

Like if I want to know whether or not Exeter is a fun place I'm not going to ask strawberry floating Google, I'm gonna ask Jenuall.

You've come to the right man, Exeter is a shining star in the world, a beacon of hope for the lost and a place fit to restore the soul of even the most world weary of individuals. :datass:

I do think there is a distinction between "simple queries that have a clear factual answer" and "nuanced questions that benefit from actual human debate", and you're right some times it's just nice to ask actual people for their opinions and spark up a real discussion around a topic.

Just because Google exists it doesn't mean we should suddenly default to using it to answer every question!

Also those people that end a thread saying - oh nvm I fixed it.

HOW, HOW YOU BASTARD HOW.

Official sources have called this poll differently.

My mam lives near Exeter, so it's OK in my book.

Apple.

I have an iMac. I bought it new in 2015 but it's a "late 2013" model. 2.9 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 processor, 16Gb RAM and a 500 Gb SSD.

But Apple has decided that my machine can't be updated to the new v11 system software. Which means that my machine is basically on the fast track to being obsolete and unsupported.

Just five years for an expensive computer. Strawberry-floating Apple!

For this reason never buy Apple.

I can't completely write Apple off because they do make great hardware (mostly), but so many people needlessly overspend on Apple kit when much cheaper alternatives would do just as good a job.

A friend of mine spent a couple of thousand on an iMac a year or two back and it just sits in the corner of his living room for occasional web browsing. :|

People may laugh at that statement, but when i was living down in darkest Devon during my late teens, Exeter really was like the bright centre of the universe.

Anyone who lived around Exeter back in the day may well also remember the local radio station Gemini FM.

For some reason, they had a strange obsession with the music of REM, Shania Twain, and Robbie Williams.

Sounds like GWR, a radio station we used to have. Although you'd have to swap REM for Texas.

I don't think that's really fair  maybe you want to be able to ask questions about people's recommendations or whatever!

Wow, I remember GWR, 2-Ten FM etc, all absorbed into Heart now...
