No, I used to but it just got so busy in there I had to leave - I was just too swamped! :slol:

Seriously though - we live in Cheltenham so just a standard town. We're fairly near the edge so it's reasonably rural, if you walk for 2 minutes in most directions from our front door then you'll be in open fields, but there's no real bodies of water anywhere nearby that would explain the recent infestation.

Most places I've lived you tend to get a reasonable amount of nature invasion during the summer months - ants, moths, crane flies, wasps etc. It's not too bad but does make me think twice about leaving windows open sometimes!

How odd, a couple of friends have a similar thing some to think of it, both news builds and mega bug issues.

I live on the outskirts of Cheltenham too and our conservatory is a constant graveyard for flies, wasps and those fake ladybirds, but nothing like your mosquito plague. I'm horribly allergic to mosquito bites, so that would be my worst nightmare! :dread:

I reckon that was the case, Jen. It sounds pretty grim! A few years back I returned home to find tons (TONS) of tiny spiders wandering around my bedroom. Upon searching around I established that they had hatched whilst tucked into the top of my net curtain :dread: .

I did't think to use a vacuum, though - I spent about two hours trying to collect them and put them out of the window :fp:  .

Ours is a new build as well, not sure exactly why that might make a difference - change in materials or approaches to how they're built potentially? Either way it's an interesting observation!

Luckily these were really small ones that had obviously not been alive long enough to bite - otherwise I might have had to call in the professionals!

For things like spiders, and most other creatures in fact, I do try and go with the approach of moving them back outside rather than straight up killing them. But in this case there were just too many of them, and mosquitos deserve to die more than most mini-beasts anyway!

Where is the vacuum now and did you empty it? Could be in for a Ghostbusters style "some strawberry floater has released them" without the need for someone to release them. [emoji38]

I took the whole thing outside and put it in a bin bag! I don't think these things can live too long so in a few days I'll empty it and reclaim my vacuum. :D

Either that or I'll go out there and find that being inside a vacuum, inside a bin bag, in hot weather turns out to be the ideal conditions to mutate mosquitos into unstoppable killing machines in which case I can only apologise for my part in the ultimate destruction of the human race!

All you need to do is blu-tac up their webs.

... . Thankfully the wasps have gone and the birds have gone... I'm hopeful that I've now had my share of invasive creatures for this year!

gooseberry fool drivers on the road during "rush hour".

There should be an extra level of license that restricts who is able to drive at peak times of the day, if you can't get around efficiently when everyone is trying to get to important places then get off the strawberry floating road! You have a responsibility to society to not allow yourself to have an adverse effect on everyone else's day by being a cockwomble.

I was queuing to get off at a junction this morning - without fail there's the usual people who decide that instead of queuing like everyone else they're special and can cut in wherever they like. :fp: I'd wager they wouldn't do this in a queue in a shop or somewhere else, but because they're in a car there's a 'barrier' and so they can't get called out on it. Of course them cutting in not only holds up the line they're coming into but also the lane they're blocking while they're waiting, causing double the fun. Morons. :fp:

Also annoying lately is people just cruising along in the outside lane for no reason. No traffic on the inside or middle? Nevermind, I'll just sit doing 60 on the outside. Even on 5 or 6 lane motorways they're still there. :fp: Or, a situation like the other week where there was moderate traffic in the inside and middle lanes, doing about 75ish, then Audi McCuntface on the outside doing 60. I came up behind him and he wouldn't move at all, despite there being room for him to do so. Eventually I get fed up and undertake him. He then appears to lose his mind, swerving dangerously and with no signalling across the other lanes, doing about 80 or so, weaving in and out of traffic until he can get ahead of me and then slows down to 60 again. :fp: I'd love to know what goes through the mind of people like that.

Both of those are common to everyone. I've said before, once you are in a car the mentality changes, things you wouldn't do on foot somehow become acceptable from the safety of your car. I rarely undertake people but I remember a few years back on a dual carriageway where s guy was just cruising in the outside lane (about 10 mph under the speed limit) to save moving back and forth between lanes. When I undertook him he went ballistic, lights flashing, horn and all sorts of useful driving hand signals. It was as if he decided the speed everyone should drive at.

I find it ridiculous how so many people seem to struggle to understand how to behave on the motorway. Of the 300+ rules of the highway code only 20 of them are related to motorways, and a bunch of those are to do with stuff like who can and cannot use the motorway - there really isn't that much you need to understand! :x

Rush hour brings a different breed of banana split driver that's for sure. Fortunately I don't drive in peak times that often but last week was Monday to Friday of rush hour driving and the amount of people in 20 year old Cavalier's or Golf's who would drive right up everyone's arse expecting them to move over and let them through despite the volume of traffic was baffling.

You'd have to go some to beat lorry drivers for general shitty, selfish driving at any time of day though.
