I purchased my game yesterday morning, my update is due to finish downloading in approx 1 hour.
My first proper chance to play it (tomorrow) will likely be a full two days after purchase.
I just don't get how any publisher can think this is acceptable. For me, it has completely sucked the enjoyment out of looking forward to a game, and buying it day one.
More attention needs to be paid to things like this. And for the love of god, loading times need to reduce as well.
Call of Duty this past week has set the standard. And when I finally got round to playing it, the game was broken on Level 3 anyway and required a complete restart of the Campaign. This was the rare exception I have purchased a game at launch and I shan't be making a habit of it. Literally paying more for the privilege of beta-testing their half finished gooseberry fool.
And if you're really unlucky like I was, the console itself will have a software update as well, before you even get to the installation and then further updates to the actual game. In this regard, gaming has fundamentally gone backwards in the last decade.

I hate it when i need to make a phone call but I'm nowhere near a public telephone box.
Had several calls to make in HMV the other day, and regret not asking the staff to borrow their phone.

Buying on release a lot of the time now means you're the final testers of the game. Wait 6 months, buy the game for half the price and when you load it, a lot of the errors/bugs will be patched.

The chocolate "menu" on Quality Street, what waster created this exactly?
The point of the menu is to explain what the chocolates are so you know what you are going to be eating, so which cretin decided to put things like "Green Triangle" and "The Purple One" on here!?
I can see it's a strawberry floating green triangle, I don't need a bloody menu to tell me that!
What strawberry floating flavour is it? That's what I would like to strawberry floating know!

Oh ffs I've just remembered it's all Hallows eve, so rather than spending my evening chilling out, I'm going to be repeatedly answering the door and dishing out sweets do greedy little banana splits.

The latest Steam update seems to have totally ballsed up both the Store tab and the discussions/forum tab, neither seems to respond now.
I also don't particularly like the new layout.

Oh, that's just great. Really. I can access the two games I play regularly off Steam easier now.

FFS, Steam is totally eff'ed up after the update, now the library tab is totally blank and I can't figure out how to fix it.

Finally got to play Modern Warfare today, and even then i still had to sign up to Activision and allow the disc to copy 'language settings'
Done the first campaign mission, but i'm mainly looking forward to getting stuck into team deathmatch, especially after i skipped Black Ops 4.
In the end, it took approx 52 hours from purchasing, to actually playing it.

I found this with CoD MW, the new one.
I had a Friday night without the missus and got home to buy it.
Took nearly three hours before the game was in a playable state. I couldn't play the single player til the next day.

Turned on Xbox today.
Needs an update. I updated three days ago.
Sticks in game disc for Shadow of War. Needs an update that is like 30-40 gig.
I. strawberry floating. Hate. This.
This is basically going back to the time when the ZX Spectrum was out, and you loaded games off cassettes and it took strawberry floating ages. Why are we going backwards? I just want to play games.
