Yeah, I'm going to try giving up soft drinks as a NY resolution. The sugar levels are absolutely awful and a 500ml being the standard measure is really not good.

I'll probably still have it as a mixer with booze on occasion but I think I'm going to aim to reduce my fluid intake to water and a couple of black coffees a day.

I drink tea and the caffeine doesn’t seem to effect me too badly, but it really makes me piss. If, after getting home from work, I have more than a cup of tea then I will be waking up to piss every couple of hours. :x

I am blaming the tea and not my old man bladder. :shifty:

Yep, the soft drinks will most likely be to blame - sugar + caffeine = wide awake, after all. That tends to work well during the day, but you pay the price when you need some shut eye later on. Then of course the next morning you feel shattered and buy more soft drinks.

Maybe someone should tell coke about this downside to their products. ;)

Genuinely never see anyone drinking non-diet versions of soft drinks these days. I wouldn't dream of buying a regular Coke any more!

The wife got me one of those Chilly's water bottles for Christmas, it's her attempt to get me to drink more water at work. So far it's working, but I always have an emergency Rockstar or Red Bull in the drawer in case I start flagging.

Some of the artificial sweeteners in diet soft drinks have a rather unpleasant effect on my stomach so I rarely bother drinking them as the aftermath isn't worth it.

Pretty much only drink coffee, peppermint tea and the occasional glass of fruit juice these days.

As for alcohol, think my grand total for last year was three beers and a glass of mulled wine

I don't tend to have anything aside from tea or coffee unless I'm at a bar/pub.

They've had me in that tiredness cycle for years now. I'm absolutely determined to kick it now.

Mostly because my old man stomach cannot hack it anymore.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten how acidic that stuff is. It's mad to think that parents give it to their kids. :(

People at work who don't mind their own business.

I just dropped something off on a colleague's desk as a thank you for helping me out yesterday, I didn't say anything and walked off. Then a guy from a few desks along stood up, walked over to that desk, picked up the item and started questioning why it was there. strawberry float OFF. What the hell has that got to do with you?

Keep your eye for that banana split. He'll be the one telling the boss you sat in the bog for 10 minutes, or had an extra 5 minutes on your lunch break.

Also, call him a nosey banana split.

strawberry float i hate work colleagues. 90% are a bunch of banana splits.

Worked in a place once with a dress code, shirt, smart pants and shoes. I didnt have smart shoes, except one pair that I wore to a wedding once. Turns out they cut my feet, like literally cut the skin and made my feet bleed if I walked in them for too long. So I didnt wear them after a couple of days and said Id pick up some decent shoes at the weekend. So there I was sitting at my desk, feet under it out of sight but wearing trainers. My team lead at the time saunters over for a chat about what Im working on, no big deal but before he leaves he mention the shoes: "I dont mind, Ive no problem with it but someone might say something to you, just giving you a heads up". No dickhead the only one who said something was you, noone else did, you want to seem cool but youre just a prick.

Left there after 90 days and havent had a dress code since thankfully.

I'd be more worried that you went out only wearing pants

American chocolate. A lady at work spent Christmas in America and came back with a bag of Hershey’s Kisses. The caramel ones are ok, but the milk chocolate ones honestly taste like vomit. It wasn’t just me that though so, we are all convinced that we have a batch of chocolate that a factory worker threw up in.

But no, that’s just how they taste apparently. :dread:

Ugh, i hate dress codes.

Was due to go on a boat trip last year, only to get a call less than 24 hours beforehand informing me that there was a dress code which included 'smart shoes'

How anyone in their right mind could possibly think i would be able to A, find said shoes in a town with no shoe shops with that amount of notice, and B, find a suitable pair in size 12 was most definitely beyond me.

Anyways, i rocked up in my regular trainers and just hoped for the best, had i been refused i would have taken them off, hand them to the staff and say 'shall i just leave these here with you?'

In the end the whole shindig was cancelled just 20 mins before so it's all academic anyways, the whole day ended up as a write off in retrospect.

Speaking of dress codes, bars (predominantly those frequented by gooseberry fool faced students) that make you take your hat off.

I don't like the implication that anyone who wears a hat is a criminal. Not to mention I recently lost/had stolen a hat my father gave to me after taking it off in one of these places.

I tend to just turn around and walk back out of such places these days, preferring quieter pubs that don't mind me wearing a hat.
