Probably better if working from home, because I often quite want to do the ‘learning’ but the ‘lunching’ is a bunch of dried-up sandwich rejects and a bowl of handled-through crisps.

I think that for the most part my colleagues have been relatively good at not drowning me in funny workplace terms. ‘Close of play’ is about the worst we have. Or maybe I’ve just become part of the machine and use them without noticing. :shifty:

Also: going for ‘drinks’ over Zoom/WebEx with colleagues doesn’t work. It really doesn’t.

For the benefit of the older folks:

"Mood" or "...is a mood" is the kids' way of saying "this thing/feeling/action resonates with me personally"

I prefer it to ‘I feel personally attacked/called out’ to be honest. Oh no, your feelings/behaviours aren’t unique and special among 7bn-odd people, what a shock.

They might be referring to zoom where it's "end meeting".telling a smart speaker to end a call is much worse. "Hey Google hang up".

I mean I think that's a general rule of thumb, even outside IT support.

People are just strawberry floating weird. Especially when it comes to animals, some of them people give a massive gooseberry fool about if they die, others they couldn't care less.

My mum got really upset at my cat for catching some birds last week, yet doesn't give a gooseberry fool when my cat catches mice. My mum eats chicken practically every day and has also eaten pigeon and pheasant in the past.

I just don't really understand the logic.

There is no logic. Some "stupidity" comes down to people being largely driven by emotions when making or not making decisions, not to say emotions are a bad thing at all.

Oh no of course not. Only when they override logic.

Unfortunately that happens quite a lot.

Mice are traditionally seen as pests though? Also most people won't like to handle dead animals if they can help it, I don't really get what's wrong?

I would say that's a reason but logic is slightly different from reason, and is just one form of reasoning. I can see why Fade would see that as illogical but people can and do use emotions as reasons for why they make different decisions as suffering is a factor everyone considers.

It's generally when one person can't empathise with another's suffering or empathises with the suffering of someone or something else more that this reason falls apart. If Fade is a very logical person and values the suffering of all living things above that of an individual's suffering then he is not going to understand that individual.
