Certainly doesn't help when said shipment has been stuck in the Suez Canal this past week. ;)

I'm just shocked human trafficking is so reasonably priced! Better returns than Bitcoin.

"Many thanks."

Who actually writes that, and why? Imagine having a verbal, in-person conversation with someone and using the phrase 'many thanks'. You'd deservedly get a slap. So why write it?

Personally I always end my IRL conversations with "kind regards". But yeah, "many thanks" would definitely feel off.

I mean, I don't even register 'many thanks' as being an issue. It's just another thing people say. Might have even used it myself in the past, might not. I dunno.

I don't really use it but I also don't see the issue with it. It doesn't make any less sense as an email sign-off than Kind Regards.

I used to work with someone that would end conversations like that sometimes, although mostly he used "thanking you" would really ground my gears.

Yeah, I think we can all agree that using "thanking you" is a sin.

Its better than using cheers or something like that. At least it has some trace of professionalism.

Good point, I think it's not so bad as a sign off.

However, it came to my mind because I just received an email where someone used it to thank me for doing something, so "Many thanks for this...".

I'm just imagining passing someone a drink or something in real life and them saying "Many thanks" nothing to genuinely be annoyed about, just one of those minor bugs.

I use many thanks in place of a cheers. I use kind regards or just regards as a generic sign off.

My mate's brother nearly lost his job because he accidentally signed off an email with Retards instead of Regards. Probably wouldn't have mattered so much usually but it was in response to someone having messed something up so the email would have been something like

I can't believe they've done this, I'll have to look into it and come back to you

Retards

Had a full on HR investigation where they analysed his previous email signoffs :slol:

I just use 'thanks' or 'thank you'.

Maybe I should quantify the amount of thanks from now on. I'll start saying many thanks, but then what happens when the favour isn't much at all? "Not so many thanks" or "less thanks" or "minimal thanks"?
