On the subject of David Walliams:

A David Walliams story about a Chinese boy is to be removed from one of his children's books after criticism that it contained "harmful stereotypes".

A new edition of The World's Worst Children will be released next year without the story Brian Wong, Who Was Never, Ever Wrong.

The move comes after podcaster Georgie Ma complained the book was "normalising jokes on minorities from a young age".

After meeting Ma, its publishers confirmed the story would be replaced.

The book featured stories about 10 characters including Nigel Nit-Boy, Grubby Gertrude and Bertha the Blubberer. It sold more than 450,000 copies in the UK when it was published in 2016, with two sequels and other spin-offs released since.

"In consultation with our author and illustrator [Tony Ross] we can confirm that a new story will be written to replace 'Brian Wong' in future editions of The World's Worst Children," a statement from HarperCollins Children's said.

"The update will be scheduled at the next reprint as part of an ongoing commitment to regularly reviewing content."

'Chinese culture is misrepresented'
Speaking to The Bookseller, Ma explained: "'Wong' and 'wrong' are two words that are commonly used in playgrounds to pick on someone if their surname is Wong.

"Even just the way Brian has been illustrated. He wears glasses, he looks like a nerd, he's got small eyes... they're all harmful stereotypes."

She added: "The overall character plays on the model minority myth where Chinese people are nerdy, swotty and good at maths, we're not confrontational and we're high achievers.

"It was just really disappointing to read about that. Personally for me, because I have a toddler, I don't want her being absorbed in these stories where Chinese culture is misrepresented."

Having criticised the character on Instagram earlier this year, Ma said she was now "grateful" to the publishers for "listening and taking action".

Little Britain apology
Walliams, who rose to fame on sketch show Little Britain before becoming a highly successful children's author, has not commented.

He and his TV writing partner Matt Lucas apologised last year for having played characters of different ethnic backgrounds in the popular BBC series.

They used blackface make-up in some sketches and the programme was removed from BBC iPlayer, Netflix and BritBox after objections resurfaced.

The pair said they were "very sorry" and that they "regret that we played characters of other races".

Those names aren't racist enough for Walliams.

I only just noticed his name is David WAlliams, an alter spelling he probably deserves correcting and having misspelt for years.

His real name is Williams. He changed it to Walliams because he's an insufferable banana split.

Equity, the actors union, only allows unique names for their members so a lot of performers create a stage name from middle names, maternal names etc.

Podcasts with endless intrusive adverts, especially from ones that are supposed to be from places that clearly don't need to be pushing sprünt. The official F1 podcasts are guilty of it, just strawberry float off stopping the chat every 5 minutes to bullshit and say you use bollocks deodorant or are trying to learn Russian. strawberry float off. I skip all that gooseberry fool anyway so why bother, it's just an inconvenience.

Now, while we're on the subject of Ayrton Senna puncturing his face with a suspension arm, I want to take a minute to talk about love honey butt plugs.

I don't mind adverts as they have to pay for the podcast somehow, but I strawberry floating hate the prerecorded adverts that kick in at random. Somebody will be halfway through a sentence and then it kicks in with a mattress advert before going back to the person finishing their sentence.

It's also really hard to skip as you can never time it just right.

Global used to be awful for this, they have gotten better but they used to have ads pop up midword, it was like it was some automatic thing to insert them on certain time stamps.

Daft really given their shows has news in them thats not in the podcast so they could put the bloody ads there.

Adverts on Now TV. It's a paid service (admittedly a cheap one when you factor in various promotions, but still paid for,) so why am I seeing adverts? :x

As a non-drinker it's annoying that the vast majority of pubs have a piss poor selection of soft drinks to choose from, particularly in my home town. It's either coke, lemonade or those sickly sweet J20 fruit drinks. On top of that said drinks are almost as much as a pint of alcohol.

Try more Craft beer places, proper craft beer places will have a bunch of craft soft drinks as well as craft alcohol free beer which are massively on the rise recently (as long as you aren't vegan too, a lot of alcohol free craft beer has lactose in it)
