What term would you rather? I tend to use the term beat for when I have beaten the final boss. I use the term complete the game if I do everything and complete it.

I dunno - complete, finish? Particularly annoys me if it's a narrative heavy game. I recently saw someone say they beat RDR2 the other day and it just felt wrong.

I usually say "completed", even when really I just got to the end of the story or whatever.

Because "playing a game" sounds so grown up?

"This should have been on Switch."
For literally every single game Nintendo dared to put on 3DS for the last 2 years.

Good shout, RG. It's not as if there are a ton of games arriving on 3DS and yet some folk are moaning about the few that are  .

Same, i've never used the term 'beat' unless i'm describing a final boss fight.

I go with "Completed" for games as well, which I count as having seen the end credits.

I remember there was a kid at my school back in the day who always used to say "cleared" for finishing a game which always sounded weird to me.

Crazy lady: “oh god, oh god, oh god, I have too much work!”
Me: “Oh dear, can I help?”
Crazy lady: “no I just have so much work in my queue, I don’t know how I will ever get it done! I have 20 items in there!”
Me: “So you have a lot less than half of what I currently have?” ;)

She was moaning a few weeks ago that she had nothing to do, now she is moaning she has too much (and she really doesn’t!).

She doesn’t help herself. She was whinging earlier that the scanner wasn’t working and I couldn’t for the life of me work out why she needed to use the scanner. Turns out she was printing out huge PDF documents, scanning the couple of pages she needed and then adding those pages back into a Sharepoint folder. I asked why she didn’t just use the “print to pdf” option to create pdf’s of the exact pages she wanted and she had never heard of doing it. I showed her how to do it and then she just said “yeah but I might have to print the documents out anyway so I might as well scan them”.

strawberry float me. :fp:

A lot of it is that they are completely set in their own way. Any deviation from that is just the worst thing for them, even if it is massively more efficient.

This becomes really prevalent in older employees. They can't deal with change. It's weird.

Being more resistant to change as you grow older, or at the very least becoming less able to change, is only natural but some people do take it to the next level. Its fine if you don't want to or are not able to learn to change, keep doing things your way then. But just be prepared to be a hell of a lot slower than you could be!

The thing that most annoys me about these "change-resistors" is when they seem to try to deny that there is another, better, way of doing something - just because you can't change don't pretend that the world hasn't moved on around you!

Websites that refuse to load properly. I wanted to read the comments section on the Washington Post but they simply won't load up. Clicking the link does nothing, on both Chrome and Edge.

Advertising is getting worse as well. There are now so many adverts it temporarily locks up the browser - I've even noticed my iPad Air 2 slowing down, seemingly struggling to cope with the sheer amount of gooseberry fool it's got to load up. Smooth scrolling? Forget it. It's ridiculous. Mandatory ad blockers required for all! When I switch to a budget computer the processor/RAM is literally being maxed out on some of these websites, that's where we're at. A strawberry floating Xbox One X required just to read the news.

Same lady today:

Crazy lady: “If you are struggling I can take some of your cases to help you out?”
Me: “I’m fine”
Crazy lady: “Yeah but I know you have some big projects to look at?”
Me: “Thanks, but I can’t start those as I am still waiting for the data, so I am fine with what I have”
Crazy lady: “Oh right, but I know you have a lot on, if you needed help I can take some?”
Me: “No, it’s fine thanks”

Somebody has obviously realised that despite the moaning she didn’t actually have much work and is now bored she has nothing to do.

Thing is you would have thought this would get better with the demise of flash. But now everything is JavaScript based with CSS transformations which is just as bad and probably worse. Advertisers just insist on doing as much as possible with their space and the tracking is also complex so yes most simple news websites will crash my iPad as well.

It really annoys me when people place an order on eBay and the type their name and address in completely lower case and/or shorten words like Road to rd or Avenue to ave
